Bikes from the 70's all had lugged frames. This is from the 90's.

also. recessed brakes weren't a thing in 1971. Definitely made much later. But, nice bike.

Yep. Took further progress in alloys (and welding) before the TIG frames were out there. Heck, for all we know it is a Specialized Allez with some missing numbers....not saying it is. But, cant say it isnt.

Your riding buddies have probably already bugged you about this, but you will have so much fun flipping the wheel over and riding fixed. With two brakes+spd pedals, you'll be able to relax and just enjoy the propulsive feeling you only get from fixed gear. I can't recommend it enough! Sweet build and very impressive job polishing the pedals and out front mount. It's cool seeing people put more bike checks on youtube now.

This bike is modern lugless construction. It is clearly not a '70's model. It could be 2000's or 2010's even. Easy enough to search the web for pictures. Not much to debate

Try the silca cuscino bar tape. Its hideously expensive but its made of nike running shoe foam and it absorbs vibrations nearly enough to justify it's price. Also smells like new shoes when you open the package.

@joshuabuilds3051 all you had to type was Silca. Most is worth the premium. She fits like a glove as is.

Absolutely positively not a 70’s Masi. This was made in China/Taiwan in the 2000-2010’s. Not a bad bike but not a rare handmade Italian collector’s piece.
