Baby girl could come at any time, so I wanted to put together a short birth plan for my doctor and the nurses to use as a guideline during labor and delivery. Thanks for watching and enjoy!!! ~Jess

I always recommend women have a c section birth plan as well. I was not planning on having a c section. I had only researched vaginal birth plans but at 36 weeks I ended up with emergency c section because of preeclampsia. I had no control over what was going on so I HIGHLY recommend at least researching a ‘gentle c section’ and maybe typing up a small birth plan for that. I’ll be doing both a VBAC and c section birth plan this time.

Staying walking, moving, squatting, rocking are the best things I did during labor. That way gravity was on my side. 😉 Laboring flat in bed was never comfortable for me. In my experience early labor is manageable. Once your body is fully dilated and you’re close to pushing is when I would start to experience some “self doubt”. That’s an indicator that baby is almost there! If you’re able to utilize a tub or even a hot shower during labor, water is amazing for labor. Praying everything goes smoothly and that you have a great experience! God made our bodies to do incredible things and yours will too. You got this Mama! 💕😊

I've always heard opposite about tearing and epidural. I was told with an epidural you can't always feel when to push so have to rely on coached pushing which can cause tearing. Whereas with a natural birth you can feel when to push and can feel if you're pushing too hard and stretching too fast and will instinctively slow down which prevents tearing.

Tessa p depends on how body reacts to epidural. I felt everything on one side (don’t remember left or right). I felt contractions before computers detected them. I hear some people feel numb after epidural but I didn’t get that lucky lol

The opposite is actually true in most cases. In most cases you can't feel when an appropriate time to push is and you push without a contraction, you push for too long because you're being coached and you hold your breath a lot of the time with an epidural and being coached and all of those things increase risk of tearing and the need for a C section.

I labored naturally for 28 hours, I never felt like I was dying. It wasn’t until I had to have a c-section and the experience with that was very negative. There’s no right way to have a baby, just remember that pain is natural. In my opinion, your getting a baby out of the process, pain can be a part of that. To me it’s a small price to pay for my a lifetime with my son. Good luck! I’m praying for you and hope you get the birth experience you want.

You can ask about a half dosed epidural. I did that with my 2nd. I was attempting a VBAC and the anesthesiologist was nervous I didn’t want one. So he offered a half dose, the line was there in case I needed another csection (I didn’t) but it took the edge off the pain.

I gave birth in a military hospital and they allowed photos but they didn't allow us to take video of the pushing. I recommend you ask for a mirror so you can see baby coming out, it was incredibly empowering to me to see how my pushing was working. I had an epidural and I couldn't feel anything so seeing it helped immensely.

I was just like you described your backup plan -- I had hoped to have epidural but got there when labor progressed so quickly that I couldn't have one and did it naturally because it was so fast! The main part of my plan which was really important was that if my daughter had to be taken out of the room for medical needs that dad could stay with her. She ended up needing to go to NICU (all was fine) but she was never without one of us.

girl you are so organized lol i never did that with my first nor will i do it with my second (i’m 34+3) i just went with the flow and took things as they came to me. the ONLY thing i want to do different is to tell my doctor to let my body push out my son rather then having the doctor grab and “pull” them out. that is when i tore and it was awful. defiantly thinking of starting a perineal massage so it doesn’t happen again.

I was the same.. with all 3 of my labour and deliveries I went with the flow and shared my wishes as the day went on .. I didnt want to be let down or upset if things didnt fo according to my plan.. so I just went with the flow once I was at the hospital and shared our wishes as things progressed.

Yes God made our bodies as women for having the babies. You are very organized but I have some concern that you are planning everything. As those of us that have been there, I think that the best thing we can do is pray. God honors our prayers. Pray for a peace and calm over yourself and that God guide and directs your doctor and nurses. He has us in the palm of his hands. He will not leave us nor forsake us. As they say go with the flow sweet Jess. God bless you and your hubby and the birth of your precious baby girl.

I wouldn’t do the IV meds if you don’t have to. They don’t really help and just make you really tired and not able to focus on getting through the contractions. They can also make baby girl tired since they do pass through to the baby.

When you have contractions they hurt. You can try to mask the pain to help your husband enjoy the experience, but I wouldn't plan on it. I don't know if I can say you will enjoy labor itself, but you will like the part where you finally get to see and hold your baby. Labor is hard work. I had to be induced and then I got a C-section due to Preeclampsia and other issues going on while I was pregnant back in 2016-17. I had to stay in the hospital for at least 4-5 days because of c-section, but I enjoyed every minute because my husband was with me and I was bonding with my daughter. If you have a C-section I highly recommend praying it helped me so much and even if you have a vaginal birth pray as well. After having a C-section it does take longer to recover, but you do heal. I know with vaginal births you do heal a lot faster. The nurses will know whether you will need a vaginal or a C-section or any medicine for pain. You will know whether you need pain medicine or not it just depends on how much pain you can bear. I never did have a epidural I was induced. Now having a epidural I heard will depend on how the baby does and how your labor progresses whether it's fast or slow progress. Cherish those moments in the hospital and take lots of pictures. Breast feeding is hard work as well depending on whether the baby will latch successfully or not. The baby feeds every 1-2 hours and it is exhausting and you will be hungry as well. Supplementing with formula other than breast will help if you experience pain from breast feeding which is something that will happen because of frequent feedings. Also you will be very exhausted period from birth and breast feeding, so make sure you utilize the nursery at the hospital because you and your husband will want to get some sleep. In the hospital it will be hard to get a lot of sleep because nurses frequently come in and out of your hospital room to check on you and the baby. The key is get some sleep before going home after you've been in the hospital because newborns are so unpredictable. It will be different when you finally get home from hospital with your newborn because your nurses won't be there to help. Find a lot of help with a newborn before you go home any support from family and friends will help especially if you want to get some sleep. Newborns know nothing about having a schedule of when to sleep and eat, so just roll with it. It's tough the first couple of months with their sleep and eating schedule. Just some FYI before going to hospital. Try not be scared or traumatized, labor is what you make it to be. Just know that any labor whether it's vaginal or c-section is going to hurt that may not be the news you want to hear, but it's true. If you have to have pain medicine it's not the worst thing in the world, some women just can't take the pain naturally. I know I couldn't.

The old epidurals made you feel nothing from the boobs down, the new ones aren’t like that, you can get up and walk around afterward, shower but you feel things just nothing like full labor. They called it an inner tihecial, I believe, I was fantastic. FYI..back pain that is bad, that you need to use heat, shower to ease, could be back labor...do not hesitate to get checked out, my sister did and couldn’t get her epidural. You will forget the labor after you hold your baby to be honest.... the first thing to remember is relax and focus on your breathing, it does work! The epi can make the labor longer, I have had 5 children and they were all different. I nursed immediately after delivery, it was great, but she needed sugar water to increase her levels an that has to come from a bottle. Take a night while in the hospital to get some sleep, you will not get any once home...sleep when she does, you will need it. Nursing is easy, my biggest helpful suggestion....you need to relax, if she isn’t latching and you begin to worry or get frustrated, she will know... Take a deep breath an try again, I had to take my finger and move my breast from her nose and it went fine....key thing is to relax.... Good luck, your plan is great! God bless, and I do hope it all goes as planned!

I do not suggest the epidiral.. I had an extremely long and painful labor with my first baby and after 17 hours I asked for it and it almost killed me.. I was rushed to the or put to sleep and had an emergency csection.. after all of that labor i didnt even get to see my baby come into the world. I was almost there if i would have never gotten the epidural things would have been so much different. I'm now pregnant with my third baby boy and I had an elective c section with my second and will with my third too.

The use of an epidural actually increases the odds of having to use interventions and possibly even having a c-section. Just food for thought. Good luck on your upcoming labour! We are all badass mamas, with or without an epidural! :)

We decided that we would wait a bit to see how he feels later in the year then decide for sure if he wants anymore. I Pray with all my heart that when I tell him, his heart will be filled with happiness and joy not sadness or anger. Either way he will definitely be scheduling a vasectomy LOL.
