Vulnicura is at the moment my favorite album too so far. Specially the song Black Lake and its epic video . Secondly probably my other favorite is Post as it still has the innocence of Debut. I think her career is been so diverse is like each planet in our solar system . how can you pick up a favorite ? Where is home? I think it depends on whats going on in your life at the moment . Thats the beauty of this woman. Bjork has a song for you at any time when you need one. Like a good friend . Great reviews greetings from California
@IainiaI9 жыл бұрын
I knew of her since I saw her singing Plastic with the Sugarcubes on the Tube or some other music show back in the 80s, I got into her when a friend bought Debut back in '93 but first I started to collect her older stuff, as I remembered I liked the song Hit by the Sugarcubes, which led me to collect all the old albums as well. My friend (one who bought Debut) and I decided to go see her at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, we had a whole day to kill, so we spent most of it in arcades and stuff and then we walked up a main street and guess who walked towards us?... my heart was in my throat, I was so shocked, she was with an entourage of friends and went into an indoor market to buy her son Sindri a water gun. My friend and I managed to get her to pose for photos with us (made our day!), we then all went down to the beach while she was doing a photo shoot. I still have the photo of Björk and I somewhere!

as a teenager, at first, i don't seem to like bjork because her music is so weird but as i listen to her again and again, i then said to myself that this is a unique talent that i really need to listen to. now, i have almost all of her studio albums, except for post, but ill get it later then. this video is very nice. definitely one of my favourite reviews of bjork. you;re really good at this. thank you for making this. thumbsup.

Homogenic changed my life. I've learned and continue to learn so much from it about... electronic .... instruments versus classical. Both coming together for the first time, really ever in a way that matters to form this.... unreal and also beyond even other worldly sound.

My first Bjork album was Post. Homogenic was my favourite for a long time but I overplayed it. Now my favourite is either Post or Medulla. Gotta love Vespertine too

I agree about Vulnicura being her best! I just love how it's strings, beats and her vocals. I was quite erked a lot of reviewers at the time were syaing 'if homogenic and vespertine had a baby...,' as I guess it's hard to accept another stand alone great record so late in her career in terms of fresh impact, but Vulnicura is one of my all time favourite records. P.S. I'm going to stick around. This channel seems sick!
@matheusfigueiredo56938 жыл бұрын
That was very interesting! I'm just in the beginning of knowing about Björk and that has been indeed quite inspiring and clarifying. Here in Brazil we don't have much of her albums released, specially in vinyl and I think that's a shame. Loved the effort you put on this video and on the information you provided. Brilliant! ^^
@avocado12267 жыл бұрын
I just now stumbled upon this video of you and like how you went in depth with each re-release even showing the actual record, and the meanings to the albums. My favorite album is Vespertine, I remember her back with the Sugarcubes and still have a live VHS tape of them with other things like interviews. I've been listening to a lot of that band and the other bands she was in, also her live solo stuff, the arrangements and live shows are amazing. I will be checking out other videos you have done.

Great thoughts on Bjork's albums! My least favourite is Volta, but that track with Anthony is stellar! I really think she and Bjork are kindred spirits. My beloved album is Vulnicura. Bjork really pushed herself further with her new music on it.
@doxepine8 жыл бұрын
PS I would like to recommend you an artist who holds the very special place in my heart - Stina Nordenstam. She comes from Sweden, her last album was released in 2004. She has very distinctive, childish-like voice and is often compared with Bjork or Ricky Lee Jones. Her first two albums are jazz-oriented, but with her third LP she completely changed her style. Give her music a listen, maybe you'll like it :)

Hi Catie, I enjoyed your "My Bjork (how do you get the accent mark over the "o"?) Record Collection" video presentation. You were well prepared, well spoken (pleasing voice) and obviously a dedicated Bjork fan. I envy your vinyl collection, but do have a digital collection of all (including Bjork, The Sugarcubes and Gling-glo) her albums which I treasure. My favorite is "all of them" from Debut thru Vulnicura including Selmassongs and all the DVDs. Her best song is a large crowd! Twist my arm and I'll say Vespertine and Undo. I look forward to your album by album reviews. Enjoy!

Love this video! I had to do similar when watching and treated myself to the remaining vinyls. What I did find is that the Vulnicura vinyl does come as part of this MoMA collection and so has its own sticker on the plastic wrap and the double LPs are the same transparent yellow as the original Vulnicura cover, so maybe it's an older issue thing? Regardless, love listening and relearning Bjork on vinyl, and thanks for this ace video. :)

Bjork+ Buerk must be the right pronunciation since some one has mentioned that....Her songs are very complex and full of changes that go from one extreme to another,like The White Stripes which I have not heard in depth of either ..The style reminds me of Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart..That album is just insane...

Yeah Homogenic is my favourite too. It's almost like a poppy version of Kid A (and clearly Thom Yorke was inspired by Homogenic, and he's talked about it and Unravel before) that feels alive instead of alien. It's frigid yet inviting. It's one of my all time favourite releases.

This fantastic video has earnt you a new subscriber! I love Bjork! "Post" has always been my favourite album by her. Did you ever come across "SelmaSongs" or "Music From Bernard Mathew's Drawing Restraint 9"? They're classed more as soundtracks to films than mainstream Bjork albums. Around 5:45 you talked about how Bjork was starting to use unusual sounds for the drum beats. A lot of those sounds are actually samples of volcanic eruptions in Iceland. During the making of "Homogenic", Bjork went out recording those sounds. Pretty dangerous if you ask me!
