there’s a lot they touched on in this mv! the reason why they look so traditional (hanboks and korean music/instruments) and have other korean influences in the mv is cs they want to show that theyre not completely westernized and they know their roots while at the top! the mv was also colorful and bright and with so much going on bc theyre touching on the stereotypes that “kpop is happy/bright/colorful, etc.” there are also a few small moments too: 1) the scene where rm has all the filters - when he was doing a vlive, someone told him not use filters bc he looked ugly (is that even possible lmao) so he used that with the lyrics “i know what i am, i know what i want, i ain’t never gon’ change, i ain’t never gon’ trade” 2) taehyung/v wearing glasses - again, (i think on vlive) someone told him not to wear glasses bc it also made him look ugly (which isn’t possible??) so he purposely wore them and dressed ig “nerdy” to show off the fact that he doesn’t care. 3) when jungkook said “i love myself, i love my fans love my dance my what” - some fans were criticizing jungkook for not caring about his/their fans since he doesnt upload on sns much 4) when taehyung was trying to squeeze through the crowd of people with masks - that was their take on airport incidents (and in general, privacy issues) where fans wouldn’t give them space and were constantly up in their faces. 5) there was also something abt j-hope wearing the bugs bunny sweater cs some people thought his personality was flippant? and that yoongi/suga had the sweater around his shoulders to show his “criticized grandpa side”? 6) jin was also criticized/seen as arrogant for ig praising his appearance or smth so “it’s okay, i’m in love with my-myself” reflects that he just loves himself and that he doesn’t care what others think. 7) if u look at the scene where jimin’s in the middle of a bunch of cgi/sim bts heads, you’ll see a masked head (like the ones from fake love/ ly tear era) among those heads on the very far left 8) them dancing in the glass box with the shark/in front of their larger versions (lmao "titans") -- i think them being in the glass box represents the fact that it's like they're on a display?? the shark behind them being the higher ups/haters watching their every move so i reckon they're alluding to the fact that they're being seen as this perfect image. then, them being in front of their titan selves looking down on them is saying that even if they're seen as this perfect image, the importance of being themselves and loving themselves is bigger, and that they're still continuing to be better versions of themselves every day. 9) the beginning scene with them sitting at the table wearing african suits references to the artwork called Scramble for Africa. also, 4:08-4:11 of this video, that dance move is actually an african dance called gwara gwara! anyways yes im not sure if all of that is accurate bc it wasnt confirmed but thats just what i got from the mv and what others have found!! ALSO, I’D RECOMMEND THREE BOXES OF TISSUES FOR I’M FINE AND ANSWER : LOVE MYSELF ;-;
