I'm refraining from having any expectations/theories because I know C. S. Pacat will just surprise all of us. And I do think we are supposed to feel like we do not know Will, as evident by Violet's epiphany near the end of the book. And I love Justice too!

Yeah not knowing Will's motives feels intentional, he's very elusive in that way. It's also kind of hard to form expectations for the next book because I literally cannot guess what direction this story will go next 😂 But I'm excited!

After reading, I screamed, almost threw the book, went for a long walk, and cried. What was that plot twist… what was that ending….. I originally picked up the book for it’s title. ‘Dark Rise’ I was like: YO, is this gonna have a villain protagonist? But the description said otherwise, but I still got the book. I was a little disappointed with the whole, I’m the chosen one thing like with Harry Potter, but the characters and story were still amazing. But then…. THAT PLOT TWIST… I SHOULD HAVE SEEN IT COMING… AND THEN THE ENDING WITH JAMES…. AUTHOR, YOU NEED TO WRITE THE SECOND BOOK FAST. I’M GOING TO DIE. I CAN ONLY WRITE ENOUGH FANIFCS TO KEEP ME ALIVE FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME.

Just finished it. Was completely fooled. I was like, oh great, the chosen one gets his own version of Ginny out of nowhere, Pacat has succumbed to het pressure… and then… !!! I was so wrong to doubt her! Can’t wait for second part! Also, absolutely love this video concept. This is how it looks when I have a blast talking to myself about something epic I just read/seen.

Welp, I hope you enjoyed the second book just as much as I did. And yes, this was basically my reaction after reading the first book was well. I was like WTF??? The hell? And the angst! Poor Will, he's just suffering...😂 And then I had to deal with a 2 year wait for the next book! Ahhhhhhh! I just hope that the third book comes out in the middle or end of 2024 and not at the end of 2025.
