My Brand New 2024 718 Spyder RS in PTS - Sepia Brown

After a long wait my 2024 Sepia Brown 718 Spyder RS is here! We head down to Champion Porsche to finalize the deal and meet with Manfred and the team to get her loaded up and delivered to the garage. With the help of my good friend Enrique, we peel off all the protective covering that is placed for delivery from the factory. In normal circumstances this is done before the client receives the car but I requested to have it untouched as I like having the satisfaction of unwrapping it myself.

After the purchase of my new '73 911T Targa - that was the last new Porsche I purchased until 2022 - 49 years later I had the good fortune to buy new the 718 Spyder, then in '23 the Sepia Brown 911Targa 4 GTS and now the '24 Spyder RS in Sepia Brown too. Ain't nobody does it better then Porsche and a perfect example is the 2024 718 Spyder RS!! It is a perfect example of Porsche's engineering perfection. I'm still in the break-in period, but can't wait to let her run here in the flat, straight and boring roads of South Florida - don't got any canyon roads here, but maybe a run down to the Florida Keyes at 180 mph might get the blood flowing :-) And, ain't no lollipops here - just pure Porsche breed technology - CheeRS

Well @siddiqahmad5193 - our goal was to unwrap her at my storage unit, so we could bring to you the video of the unwrapping, while also being able to see the home she'll be staying in. I couldn't do that at K2 Motorcars here in Jupiter, FL., a 60,000 sq ft storage/rental facility that also has a full detail service department. In the next few days, they'll be 3 short reels of exactly that - paint correction, PPF install and a ceramic coating application - stay tuned and thanks for the comment on the color - CheeRS

Hey @rodneypratt4324 - and Sepia Brown was first used back in 1969 thru 1973 and a few years ago Porsche brought that color back, thru their PTS (paint to sample) program. And, too funny about the cap - I wear the cap backwards, because it's kinda of a M.O. for me, when doing the videos. My goal with the satin black was to match the '23 911 Targa 4 GTS, so when side by side and with the Sepia Brown paint theme - the wheels would also match the overall look of the 2 Porsches. Hey @user-vt9je9jxf4 - thank you so much for your comment and ya, she is pretty sexy - can't wait to get to that 9,000 rpm to hear her scream :-) Yep - and good eye on the color shade difference - the '73 back then, used a Glasurit single stage paint with a clear coat and when she got her only re-painted back in 1991 - we used the same process. Porsche's current technology uses again a Glasurit (manufacture - BASF), but a water based paint or waterborne product - check out their website. So - yes, they're is a shade of difference between the earlier application to the modern day technology - Sepia Brown Porsche paint code 415-9-2 - thanks again - CheeRS

Thanks for the video. Did you request that the dealership does not remove the wrap? And do you know if every Porsche comes wrapped by default from the manufacturer?

Hey @silverlover5817 - and yep, special request to the Porsche Ambassador (salesman) at Champion not to unwrap her so we could do the video in our own space and time. A note was placed on the outside of the wrap and inside the car saying, 'do not remove wrap or perform PDI' (pre-delivery inspection). No PDI because I wanted a professional detail company to do the paint correction, PPF and the Modesto Ceramic Coating. With Porsche having to ship vehicles by boat, I believe most have some form of protection, but gonna guess the high end models get a full wrap like the Spyder RS. Hey @liam6829 - and yes, I am fortunate to be only about 45 north of Champion Porsche and just around the corner per say, is Champion Motorsports. The demographics of Miami and FT. Lauderdale has Champion as one of the largest in the Country. Don't be jealous though - you work at a Porsche Centre, so your way ahead of most other Porsche people. Hey @helimx - thanks for checking out our channel and we are the new kids on the block with only about 4 months under our belt - so appreciate you tuning in. And, yes I'm learning on an open forum like this, your gonna gets knuckleheads that only wanna just make negative comments, but I think on an overall basis we've gotten some wonderful people making some positive comments. The removal and install of the top is really not to bad, I'm sure you've checked out some of the YT videos. The goal for Porsche was light weight (a goal for all RS's) and if I'm correct the top for my 2022 718 Spyder is 30 pounds heavier. The design is really ingenious for Porsche, because it's so simple and with just a few steps the top can be taken on and off with just one person, but 2 people works also. And, just try and ignore those negative thinking people and please continue to check us out - CheeRS

In the past when I would try and describe the color, I would use a candy store back in California called See's Candy that had two suckers on a stick - one was dark chocolate and the other was a light caramel color, which was really close to the Sepia Brown. Hey @michaelschneider- - and yes, there was a number of early 911's from 1969 to 1973 that carried the Sepia Brown color. Thanks @sg618342 - yep, it is a different color that Porsche has come up a long time ago. In previous replies, I mentioned that Sepia Brown was first used on the 911's from 1969 to 1973. And, if I'm correct paint code 415-9-2 was brought back in 2023 for the 911 models. Please check out the other videos on this channel that has two of my other Porsches in that same color - CheeRS

seems like dealer did the pdi and rewrapped the car. the front spliter along with a few other plastic trims are shipped inside the car. They also need to remove the suspension from transport settings

Hey @blendlinegarage42 - and sorry for my delay in replying to your comment. Per my request to the Porsche sales rep at Champion, I asked them not to unwrap the Spyder RS so we could do the video of the unwrapping for our YT channel. The vehicle was not unwrapped and a partial PDI was performed by inspecting the undercarriage and hooking up a diagnostic to confirm there were no default codes that needed to be cleared or reset. They did the diagnostic by unzipping the driver door wrap, in order to access the hook-up for the diagnostic equipment. I also did not want the dealership to do the new car detail, because she went to K2 Motorcars here in Jupiter for the paint correction, PPF and ceramic coating. And, if I may - there was no front splitter or other plastic trims inside the car - they may do that on other Porsches, but not this one and not sure what your talking about with you mention 'remove the suspension from transport settings. Yep - waiting to hear this month from Champion Porsche on if I'll be able to secure 1 of the 5 allocations for the 2025 model year. I was told by the sales manager that they have 3 request so far and I would be # 4 or 5 - so keeping my fingers crossed and hope Porsche will still offer the Sepia for the 2025 model year - stay tuned. Hey @IncandescentSmell - thanks for your comment and the Porsche paint code for the PTS Sepia Brown is 415-9-2. Porsche first offered the color back in 1969 to 1973 and then brought back the color for the 911 models in 2023. They did make the color available for the 2022 Boxster and not sure on other years and models - thanks again, CheeRS
