Chuck, I’m of the expedition camp. I have a 2023. Same track but in the expedition. These are simply the best there is for back country adventures in bottomless snow and slush. They’re crazy good. Congrats on your new ride buddy! Well deserved! Love the accent too bye! 😅

I agree Many people I know have switched from an expedition to a Skandic for all the reasons you have explained. People ask me why I have a 24 inch skandic and I tell them it’s because they don’t make a 30” wide track

I love my 2024 skidoo SE expedition , our area annual snow fall is 4 feet, 98% of my riding is frozen lakes. At times I pull 3 sleighs , if slush conditions allow. If not the machine can carry all my fishing gear on its own, BRP has many options to assist with that. You’re right about the dealerships , they make all the difference in the world. So I couldn’t wait till morning to watch the video lol. Congrats on the sled. I added a headlamp to the inside of my box lid with two screws so u have a light inside the box when it’s dark. And am really impressed with the brp chainsaw clamp was an easy install. Congratulations again nice to see Melanie and the dogs in the video

From Alberta I agree with your decision. I have the Expedition model. Chuck I run in ECHO mode 90 % of the time. I groom snowmobile trails and find in that ECHO mode is so smooth. Not to jumpy and responsive for smooth starts etc. Enjoy your new sled Mr. We had sucky.low snow this year I only have 14Km on my sled this year..

The gas cap says to use 91 octane if it's a ethanol mix. All gas grades have Ethanol in it in Canada 😞

Congratulations! I love mine its a 2021 same model and engine. Just fyi some have fuel filter issues that lead to fuel pump failure. BRP dont have a fix for this yet just changes the pump. The consensus online is that something is disintegrating and fouls the filter then in return clogs and burn the pump. Changing to your previous model pump is one way to fix the issue my skandic has been flawless for now. On another note seeing you having fun camping and fishing on your older skandic made a lasting impression so its what I ended up buying.

I suggest the chainsaw mount, I have it and works extremely well The adjustable throttle is great but beware when you’re finger throttling, especially in tight spots where a branch can hit your hand or throttle. I have a 2024 expedition SE and added lots accessories. Wanted the skandic , but riding double with air air suspension is great, rear hand warmers, rear visor plug in and even a plug in for heated boots for the passenger,, enjoy

im with you almost all the way .im a trapper and have used my machine to the fullest . you are bang on with the skandic compared to the expedition, my last machine was 24 ins track and new one is 20 ins and i like the 20 ins better .the very first thing i done was take the mirrors off completely.the last machine had 48,000 kms and when i sold it, mirrors and 2 up seat were brand new.itll be the same with this machine ..900 ace is lots of power. no need for turbo for my use .i dont care for the storage box.its to big and stuff rattles around in there if its not full.

Got the 2022, getting to 2000 km. Been great. I suggest the i grip studs that screw in to the track, and the heated handlebar bag. The studs are awesome for when there's no base to the snow or you have to cross fallen trees. I like the bag for keeping a go mug of coffee or tea warm and accessible. There's a fuel filter in the tank that should be changed around 2000 km, especially if you run ethanol gas. And there's a 40 Amp fuse under the gas tank that isn't mentioned in the manual. Both those items require a couple hours and a lot.of disassebly to get at. The little toolkit BRP sells for 250 bucks is overpriced but worth it. I have the winch on mine with the front and rear receivers, I wouldn't buy it again. I carry a Maasdam rope puller which I use regularly, does the same thing, and weighs and costs way less and is more versatile.

Fuel sock issue is quite common. My son changed his at 7000 kms. Took a bit of time but he found it a fairly easy fix. I hope this issue gets addressed soon. I guess it will always be on the back of your mind but knowing my son knows the drill makes it easier for me lol. Trick: if it happens while on the trail, fuel up as much as possible-temp fix as the pressure of full tank alleviates the symptoms

Ya dealer also told me to keep the tank at half or better to keep the fuel pump cool. They also said ethanol will gum up that fuel sock much more than non ethanol premium. Also on some of the new 900 ACE the coolant hose under the secondary shaft that can rub on the shaft (on the right side of the engine, big black hose). You can zip tie it down to make sure it doesn’t rub and put a hole in the hose. Got a couple 2024s at work with under 10 hours each, one was rubbing but the dealer caught it at the ten hour service. @@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors

Happy for you Chuck! Low range is a great feature and should save on belt wear. Hope it has a decompression lever for the engine in case you have to manual start it. Can you extend the height of the ski struts for better clearance? Well deserved so enjoy:)

Hopefully you have better luck than I did! Just bought the same machine 2024. Less than 1000 km on it and I’ve walked home twice now. I live in the Yukon and run a remote trapline reliably is king. The new 4 strokes have to many electronics to fail. Nothing beats a simple two stroke like the VK540 in the reliability department

Great looking machine! The modularity is Awesome! It takes a long time to make an expensive decision. I'm not a " Skidoo " expert. But they might not make a 30 wide track because the centrifugal weight of the track coupled with possibly impeding with your turning radius. This might add more stress to the tracks running gear when turning. You said it yourself in a later video, " The machine is designed to deal with the conditions! " Grats on your purchase. Very cool!

I've only heard good things about the 600-900 Ace motors.I would personally stay away from anything forced induction with a turbo on a gas motor.Less stress,Less maint.That machine is a beast.I run a Tundra.

I agree, if you do a bunch if trail riding but also need the utility aspect, then the Expedition is the perfect snowmachine. But for primarily working and ice fishing, I'd take the Skandic as well.
