ON MARCH 2 1999, I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO FLY ABOARD THE CONCORDE FOR ITS 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS FIRST FLIGHT. SADLY, 16 MONTHS AFTER THIS FLIGHT, THE AIR FRANCE CONCORDE CRASHED INTO THE FRENCH COUNTRYSIDE AND IT MARKED THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR THE BEAUTIFUL SPEEDBIRD OF THE SKIES. I AM VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TAKE THIS FLIGHT...IF IT WERENT FOR MY BRIDE, JILL...SHE WAS VERY SUPPORTIVE OF ME FOR THIS. SHE KNEW IT WAS ALWAYS MY DREAM TO FLY ABOARD THIS PLANE...AND NOT BEING ABLE TO AFFORD FOR BOTH OF US...SHE VERY UNSELFISHLY SUPPORTED MY FLYING TO ENGLAND ALONE, TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN...AND LIKE SO MANY THINGS IN OUR 24 YEARS TOGETHER...I THANK HER AND LOVE HER FOR HELPING MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

Outstanding!!! Goosebumps!!!!! Thank you for filming, while you would be just expected to be enjoying your flight, then sharing. The days to fly on it are long gone, the way you captured it are the next best thing. Thank you 👍

@romengg That is the power back point- Its when the afterburners are switched off after leaving the Heathrow fence to keep residents happy. It creates a back falling feeling in the cabin because of the fast decrease in power. You will notice that the cabin seems much more quiet after this point too.

i feel sad being born too late to see this beautiful plane flying with my own eyes. The concorde must have been something very special. Like other people here i find it quiet interesting how the pilot is interacting with the passengers. I would love to get a glance at an commercial airplane cockpit during flight but i know its not possible because of procedures and security. Thanks for sharing this video!

I got to go in one on the ground but never flew in one. I saw it fly above me many times and it left me in awe. Concorde is one of mankind's greatest engineering achievements and it is sad that young people today can only know it as history.

@ rockymountainrandom..... that what was known as the "concorde countdown"...unlike regular subsonic planes, that begin a slow roll down the runway as they take off and build speed...the concorde would take position at the end of the runway, and on the count 3-2-1, the pilot would throw all 4 afterburners on at once (38,000 lbs of thrust multiplied by 4 engines) and that would allow the concorde to go from zero to 280mph take off speed in under 30 seconds..

When the Concorde was ready to commercially fly and accommodate passengers, almost all the Countries were reluctant to welcome the Concorde. The Middle Eat State of Bahrain was the only Country that welcomed the Concorde. I was so lucky to fly the FIRST British Airways Concorde flight from London to Bahrain. The Concorde, then, was equipped with 100 seats and the number of the passengers of the first flight was only 17 (seventeen). One of the Passengers on my first B.A. flight was a very old man. We were told that this old man was the Pilot who tested a first commercial flight, long time ago. His flight crashed. His co-pilot perished and the old man survived to become among the Passengers of the First Concorde flight ever. We were served champagne "Don Peri....", Russian Caviar and a sumptuous dinner. Our trip on the first Concorde Flight was very amusing. It took much longer than scheduled because the Pilots were speeding, then slowing when flying over Countries that did not like the sound, although we were 62,000 feet high. My subsequent Concorde Flights were on "Air France", but they had already added twenty more seats due to the excessive number of demand to fly the Concorde. British Airways mailed a beautiful Certificate to each Passenger who flew the First B.A. Concorde. I cherish this Certificate and proud to show it to my Family and friends. Sorry to miss the Concorde.

@rockymountainrandom No, that's when they go into noise abatement procedures, and the reheat (afterburners) are turned off. He's saying "3, 2, 1, noise" The ship's acceleration comes to a rather drastic decline if all 4 are done at the same time, or close to the same time (most cases, they'd be turned off in pairs, to lessen that effect). Apparently, the people are reacting to that sudden draw-down in acceleration.

After 3.2.1. There is a requirement for engine noise reduction,(noise abatement). The engines' afterburners (re-heat) are switched off shortly after the take-off run to greatly reduce engine noise. As a result of this, the engine power suddenly reduces, causing a jolt with a slight falling feeling. It caught me by suprise when i was lucky to go on a test flight when I used to work there with BA. Re-heat greatly increases engine power but is heavy on fuel and is only used for take-off and going trans-sonic .

One day, regular normal morning at school aged 10, I got asked by my teacher to follow her to see the head/principle. I walked into his office and my wonderful Mum was there. I couldn’t understand what I’d done wrong and was so confused. So she drove me a few miles saying we’re going to London Stansted where she worked as a ground agent and only 4 miles away. We got there, my eyes lit up as we saw Concorde landing. Then she asked, “do you want to fly on it?” I was totally confused, but indeed I did. It was repositioning from London Stansted to Heathrow (not supersonic) after another supersonic charter. We did a very light weight take-off and the acceleration/climb actually frightened me! We were a modest family, I alway thank my Mum for saving and giving me that trip. Not many that can say they’ve done STN-LHR on Concorde G-BOAG. ❤️

@ abaj001.....at 4;50 in the video...the reaction you hear is when the pilot cut off all 4 afterburners after takeoff... when rolling down the runway..concorde is using all 4 afterburners or 38,000 lbs of thrust x 4 engines....and taking off at 270 mph....about 1 minute after liftoff....the pilots have to cut out all 4 afterburners out of consideration of the noise levels on the suburbs surrounding Heathrow Airport
