Brother has the easy touch of a real operator and a 2-71 has a realo snarl to them too! Thanks!

He has been running HD5s (this is his 2nd one) since the early 70s. He also ran equipment for the county DOT since the late 60s.

@@paulthompson5272 Sounds like me. I started on a road job pulling a sheepsfoot in 69 and then Army and then a chauffeurs license at 21 and everything that went with it from then on. A good life but it'll catch up with you.

When the HD5G loader came out it was the only loader to come from the factory as a loader. All others Cat D4/T4 or the IH TD9 the loader was an attachment that you could put on. With the Cat and IH the grouser track plates had to be replaced with slick plates or you voided the warranty on the rear end. The HD5 was ahead of the time. It was a factory loader with 3 grouser track plates that had more tractive force than the other machines in her weight class.

This is his 2nd HD5, it has a good stock "football" muffler. His first one had a rusted out muffler that we replaced with a homemade manifold and a Thrush glasspack muffler.

I am NOT a fan of HD 5 loaders, loud and slow, but I like that dozer, I would actually like to own one with a winch.

Good machines, maybe a little outdated these days, but still able to do a lot of work.
