What a crazy run-in, reminds me of when I ran into Jhonen in downtown Denver after a con as I was lost looking for my car. I wasn't able to meet him at the con because the line was so long. But I met him on the streets and got him to sign my drawing of Zim taking a shit.

Aw, I gotta wait a whole week to find out about (I’m presuming) you meeting with some of the Nine Old Men? Bugger.

As a teenager with hopes of becoming a professional animator, these videos are so comfortable to watch. You really did nail the "Your uncle sits down with you and tells you a story from his days in the industry" vibe. Please keep these up, I'd love to hear more

Sounds like, at that age, they just tended to save their energy for the moments on their topics of passions (to recall what I’ve read about their train hobbies and the size of their collections in the 90’s). Incidentally, I’ve always loved their cameos in Iron Giant and especially Incredibles. The two talking about how the old school is the way to do it feels so apt to their legacy and those of the techniques they pioneered. And, look, was it an egotistical assumption? Sure, yeah, and it’s easy to chastise yourself when all the people around you, who had “proper” animation training, looked up to them so much, never minding their age. But, you kept your thoughts to yourself (your friend excepted), and they got squashed before they had a chance to truly fester. So I don’t judge you for it at all! Hay, 28 or 29 is a younger age then a lot of people getting the true “old age does not invalidate a person who did great things in their youth”, look at it that way. Not as much to say as the South Park episode, given the context-setting of these guys and animation history I know inside out. But a rip of a good yarn still!
