Hi, thank you that is really great realistic information. I am getting ready to move to Phuket from Henderson Nevada, had to laugh about the electric bill. I have a 3 bedroom house and last month was $380 U.S. with my air/con at 83/86 to try and save money! Was 114 F here today 😅 Anyway lived in Patong Beach back in 2004 for about 8 months. Really miss the beach, food and the woman. I don't golf but will be pretty much doing everything else you do. Won't get a car I walk for exercise and hire a local driver for those once a week food or shopping trips. Really glad to see you so well set up and happy. I also like your attitude about helping your lady and her family. I like to do the same, feed the beach dogs, pick up trash on the beach, shop as much as possible in local stores. The Buddhist way of respecting all life and each other is comfortable for me at 67. I wish U.S. had more of it. Anyway thank you for the video. Amada buddha bless 😁

Thanks for the sharing and video, last year, I lived in the Jomtien area for 6 months and my monthly budget was $3K and that's with companionship with a regular Thai lady for 3x a week and not buying any LDs and barfines. Been eating Thai foods in the market not western food. I was planning to retire but changed my mind in the last minute. In my early 50's now and back to work in CA. Will do this again, next year.

Somebody is going to chime in an accuse you of being a simp. Look at him, he’s paying to upgrade the house, etc. However, I and many others totally get it. 1) that pension keeps coming. I won’t be able to spend all of my pensions either, and if it pleases my heart to see I’m adding value to others around me, without it going to booze or gambling, then that’s an investment that returns an emotional dividend. 2) if there’s someone that is on a tighter budget, like SS only, then obviously they can’t put themselves out there for others, as they need to create a larger emergency fund. 3) Even though you or someone like us, doesn’t need to worry about money as much as the next person, you are still putting out a frugal budget. That shows anyone can live comfortably and safely on a reasonable income stream. Keep it up!

@@amaninsiamI don’t see you as a simp. It’s basically pay 4 play. Which is how it works in most countries. Since your income far out weighs the costs its water under the bridge. How come you prefer living in a local house with her parents though? Wouldn’t a nice office with mountain views, place with a pool, sauna, ice bath be more ideal? Also just saying, I watched a few vids and never saw her dad so I have no idea what he looks like or his age but I’d personally just check family photos, wedding photos, etc to make sure that’s grandmas husband and not your gfs. (More common here than lol think) Otherwise, glad to see you living the life you want 👍 Thailand is awesome

Thanks for the cost run down, you're killing' it. As a California resident, I feel your pain at giving this ridiculously run state even a single dollar in a phone tax. If they could tax the air we breath... wait, in a way (green laws) they do. If not for children and grandkids, I would likely be spending much more time in Northern Thailand

Damn, that does seem quite a lot. In Pattaya there is fierce competition between visa agents and you can get your initial non-o for between 23-35k all-in, including the 800k bank “service” and your 90-day check-ins 😉 For subsequent annual renewals the cost goes down to about 12k baht for the year.

Hi there Just seen a couple of your videos today , glad you’re enjoying life here in Thailand, it a wonderful place to retire and live in , Non o visa costs me 1900 baht per year plus 200 baht for printed bank statements per year for a grand total of 2100 baht per year or $60 per year you’re paying $2000 per year , I just don’t get it sir , go with your partner and do it yourself it’s really easy , it might take a morning or afternoon to do depending on how busy your nearest immigration office is on the day you go , but you’re retired and have all day to do what you want so a few hours once a year is not really a hardship, at least for me it isn’t, liked the info on your health insurance will check them out , all the ones I’ve seen or been quoted on are more expensive and have massive excess on them ( 100k - 200k baht )which I find ludicrous , so I will check out regency thanks Have a great day and regards Davy 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇹🇭

We have a family of 3 (wife and infant) and live in Hua Hin very comfortably on $3000 - 4000 a month which is about a third of my monthly income so plenty for traveling, saving and fun. We own our pool villa outright so no rent or mortgage. I don’t own a car. I won’t drive here. Instead I hire a full time driver who takes us anywhere we want. Our electric is our biggest fixed expense at about 7000 bt a month. We run air 24/7 and the pool adds as well. Almost 16 happy years with my Thai wife. Can’t beat it!

That's not realistic. How come you don't have a private chef to cook food? What do you eat then? Everyone here has a private chef to cook proper dishes otherwise you can't survive. And how much you pay for housekeeper and gardener - who does all the work around the house and yard, pool? Your real budget must be two or three times higher.

Can you explain the $160/month for Visa? There is the LTV (long term visa for 10-years) for over 50 and it cost 50,000 baht to apply with some income requirements but I don't see any monthly or annual fees associated with that. Thanks for such an informative video.

@@amaninsiam Sorry, I still am not understanding why you're spending $600/month for a VISA for attorney or renewal fees. Why does this cost have to be spent every year? I thought long-term visas (LTV) pay a 50,000 baht one time fee and show proof in the bank or this new VISA introduced last month called the DTV Destination Thailand Visa which is a 5-year VISA, pay 50,000 upfront, show proof of at least 500,000 baht in a bank account in your country or in Thai bank at the time of application and just have to leave the country once every 360 days and return. Why pay some attorney?

Just let me add based on your words and living up north KK it is cheaper not much but cheaper. You mentioned Attorney my assumption he is acting like an agent obtaining and taking care of any needs. The fact that aside from the necessary docs the cost is 1900 baht, Mult Entry is 3800 there is very little after approval that has to be done. My assumption you are paying a retainer for them to do it all for you 90days, TM30 which is very easy to do yourself can't getting around it is no correct! The 750 baht retainer to each his old the cost of over 50,000 baht is a overkill charge in my opinion as noted it can be obtained for less than half what you are paying especially in Pattaya but I don't know KK. As for insurance based on your words 9000 baht a month for 100USD, can be also obtain cheaper. You don't look that old since you mentioned Blue Cross which doesn't exist in Thailand. I recently spoke to a broker outside coverage for Thailand at 72 no pre-existing condition same policy 100,000 even if I use 34-1 comes to about 65,000. Correction, my apologise, the medical policy price I referred wasnt the same it was for coverage 80,000 USD that comes to 2.4 million baht coverage it isnt full coverage cost 1,800 usd the 100,000, 20more runs 3,300 USD. So what was quoted is in that range.

How does your non-o cost you 6000baht a month? Is your non-o based on marriage? working? I am changing to a Non O based on marriage now the coming week. It's gonna cost me 2000baht to go from a Visa Exemption to Non-O. And then it's gonna be extended for either 1900 or 5000 for a multi entry. Either way, nowhere close to 6k baht a MONTH. So genuinely curious why it costs you that much and if I missed something important. :P
@amaninsiam
@amaninsiam 2 ай бұрын
Thank you for the question. It cost me just over 2.2K for the attorney service (which included a Thai bank account) and my 1 year non-0 visa with the multiple entries. TSL did everything for me in one day. Their link is in the description. It was well worth it to pay them an additional $200usd for their assistance. The interest my visa money makes for the year should pay for next years visa. $2000usd = 71,808 thb, divided by 12 = 5,984thb per month or $167 usd per month. Now, I had a 90 day when I upgraded to the non-0, so the Thai government gave me 14 months instead of 12 months. Also, TSL spots you the 800,000 baht to open the bank account. They then take their money back the next day (or so) then its up to you to wire in your money to replace it. They were very helpful in getting all the information from the bank to ease the international transfer. .

@@amaninsiam Right. Ok. If you're happy with their service, that is all that matters. Our circumstance is a bit different I guess, seeing as I am a farang woman married to a Thai man. I don't need to show any sort of financial documentation. Personally would absolutely never pay 6k a month for a visa agent, when doing it on my own would cost me around 6k. Including the taxis to and from Immigration. A bit more tedious, as a visit to Immigration could be a whole day or a couple of days if you're missing some documentation... But not worth paying 6k a month to avoid it for me.
@amaninsiam
@amaninsiam 2 ай бұрын
@@pejfectlife It may be cheaper for you because you are married, my visa is just a tourist visa. This is just speculation on my part of course buy that kind of makes sense. I will inquire with TSL when we next talk if I remember.

@@amaninsiam I am currently on a Visa Exemption myself. The price of changing a visa to a Non O based on retirement is the same as based on marriage. The price to change from Tourist Visa or Visa Exemption to Non O is 2000 baht. Possibly 5000 if you want a Multiple Entry one, but it doesn't mention that in the documents I found on the Thailand Immigration website. You're likely paying a extreme premium for them to "take care" of the financial requirement of 800k baht in the bank. I would make sure to do one MONTHLY transfer of 65 000 baht or more for 12 months before your next extension so you can fill the financial requirements that way, and save 6000 baht a month going forward. Enjoy retirement. :)

@@pejfectlife yes, I was thinking the same thing. Especially since they take the 800K out the next day. You need to have that 800K in your bank account for 2 months prior to getting the extension, so that didn't really make sense to me.
