Just found your channel and enjoyed watching your bobcat repair. The channel has interesting, alternative content as both items are for productive use and repurpose machines which might otherwise be discarded. There is a calmness which emerges from both the footage and occasional commentary (a blessing to not be barraged by meaningless gibber) which allows me as a viewer to understand and think/participate in my own time. I look forward to further postings. Regards from South Australia.

Well done. I have a 632 that’s had a hard life. Still runs fine but needs lots of work. Your series on this machine is a great help.

Best cheapish engine I've every used in an engine replacement has been the Air cooled Deux Diesel. In my experience the 2,3 or 4 cylinder Deux is a great little worker which I've consistently managed to buy at great prices. I buy them from the junk non running Row at some Auctions or from junk yards. The tins tend to be completely rust out or great 1 or the other. I don't try buying the engines themselves at junk yarde as I've learnt my lesson where I was charged more for the engine alone than the hole machine making out I want it for spares or too try to repair. The machines from1960/70 seem the best. Earth rollers, 2 cylinder wacker old rotten gensets. Got charged $400 bucks for 4 machines at the last junk yard but got him down to $350. I later sold the shells of the old equipment for $250 & kept some really useful spare parts which I know I can sell over time for a good $500 As it happens all 4 engines were cracking little units. I've already refreshed & fitted 1 of those 3 cylinder units to a good friends whose skid steer was junk. I charged $950 for the rebuilt motor with new tins which I fabricated myself plus I completely refreshing the paint on both the engine & machine total cost to him $2000 for the whole job, mates rates. That was just over 2 years ago when parts took ages to arrive & if they did they'd cost a fortune so could have charge alot more . He's been loving it ever since its been completed. I also managed to fit his old engines turbo without alot of hassle, he reacons it got way more power than his old 4 cylinder diesel ever did .

I don't think I'll be swapping the engine in this unit but fitting up a diesel with more grunt would be nice. If I end up going to a replacement however videos will follow with that work for sure! Thanks for checking this one out.

Dang I need that splines slip yoke that bolts to the ujoint. Mine wore out and spun the teeth last week.
@savvysprocket2 жыл бұрын
That is no fun! Sorry to hear that happened to yours. Hopefully the shaft for the hydro pumps is ok. I might suggest checking all your mounts during the repair just to make sure you don't have extra play anywhere that could be wearing things out faster. Some of my mounts were very sloppy when I took them out.
@ProjectsWithPat2 жыл бұрын
@@savvysprocket yeah that’s exactly my issues. Mounts are shot. Engine sits about an inch low so the joint is not straight. But at a slight angle. I’ll be fixing that once I get the parts. I’ve already done a starter, you joint, oil flush, engine tune up, oil pump. And lots of cleaning. Thanks. I seem to have found a guy who thinks he has the yoke.

Best way to sand the is to glue a sheet of sandpaper to a flat bord and go in a finger eight pattern, have it little Indian
@savvysprocket2 жыл бұрын
That is a good idea. The stone I picked up did work pretty well however it would have been nice to have a larger surface. I'll try the sandpaper on a board approach next time around.

Try an off cut of granite or glass too. Much flatter than a board

It’s a pleasure to see that you finally got the Bobcat 632 running, nice work 👏🏼. I am a recent owner of a 632 model and a novice at fixing it. Bought an owners manual on eBay and noticed that the distributor firing order specified is 1-2-3-4. Is that what you set on your machine? Many thanks!
@savvysprocket2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Key word FINALLY. It sure did take longer to get it back together then I wanted but better late than never. I didn't need to make any changes in the distributor however that is what mine is set at. I just checked my service manual and it also specifies 1-2-3-4 for the firing order.
@zachenry71932 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Mine I had set at 1-2-4-3 (anti-clockwise), as suggested on a Skidsteer forum. It starts but the engine gets quite hot after running for a few minutes. Tried changing to 1-2-3-4 but will not start, which kind of baffles me!

I just replaced the spline gear between the engine and the pump, of my bobcat, 743, but when I started the engine, I have severe vibration,, especially when I increase the throttle. Can you suggest possible issues? This is the third time I have had to change this coupler. The first time was because of a broken universal joint. I fear that the pump shaft may be bent.
@savvysprocket2 жыл бұрын
How are your mounts for both the engine and the pumps? If either of these are worn out they will have compressed and your shafts will not be aligned correctly. You might also want to double check the alignment of your engine from side to side. Hope that helps! Thanks for checking out my channel.
