Will all the shortlisted applicants be interviewed? Quite an ambiguous question there, but I read in my application that not all the prospective candidates would be interviewed, as most likely interviews won't happen often. M.Phil in Archaeological Science aspirant here. Great content, all the best.

Hi there! I believe that in general any applicant that the department is interested in giving an offer to will be interviewed while all other applicants won't be. (So yes shortlisted applicants will be interviewed I believe).

Hey Ilya! Loving the vids. Do you think there are any advantages/disadvantages of applying to an integrated masters course, as that is what I am rather than applying to do BA then Masters seperately?
@IlyasCambridgeAdvice3 жыл бұрын
I don't think there's anything wrong with applying for an integrated Masters. It would also mean that if you get in, you'd be guaranteed a Masters while if you have to apply separately then you won't. Just make sure that the course is really what you want to do because you won't want to spend four (or however long it is) years doing something you'll not want to do. In theory it could be harder to get into an integrated Masters course because the university is investing more in you, though in practise I don't think there's much of a difference.

Thank you very much, this is the video I was looking for! I have a question and would be grateful for your answer. As far as I understood, you didn't have any technical questions, and did you expect that or usually interviewers don't ask them to graduate applicants?

If you’re applying for a Masters degree course when you’re in sixth form and you get accepted do you then also have this application process for the Masters?
@IlyasCambridgeAdvice3 жыл бұрын
If you're applying for an integrated Master's course, like engineering, then no there is no Master's application process.

@@IlyasCambridgeAdvice isn't the Cambridge natural sciences course an MSci (i.e. integrated masters?) if so, how come you had to apply separately?
@IlyasCambridgeAdvice3 жыл бұрын
@@UltimateSuperSaiyan Natural Sciences can be either a BA or MSci depending on the route you take. The only integrated Master's option that I can do is Systems biology, and I'd rather do an MPhil in Biological Sciences (for which I have to apply separately).

@@IlyasCambridgeAdvice oh I see - is there a difference in the integrated masters (Part III) and the MPhil?
@IlyasCambridgeAdvice3 жыл бұрын
@@UltimateSuperSaiyan Yeah. The MPhil I'm applying for is research based while the Part III is an integrated MSci that is taught.

Hey Ilya ! I really like the videos ! I wanted to ask what do you think are the chances of getting into Oxbridge or Imperial with Maths, Chemistry and English Language if i do meet the grades? I am just worried that I don't do all sciences for a chemistry degree and unis will think its weird that I did something like English when i want to apply for science ? I really like the videos and it will be cool to see vlogs haha
@IlyasCambridgeAdvice3 жыл бұрын
Glad you like my videos! If you're doing those A-levels then I'd think that unfortunately you wouldn't make a very competitive application to Cambridge because most people do more than 2 science/maths A-levels (most natural sciences students have done 3 or 4). I think it's the same for chemistry at Oxford. This doesn't mean that you can't get in, it just means that the odds aren't in your favour. I don't know much about the Imperial chemistry course but the website suggests that the entry requirements put less emphasis on a third A-level that is science/maths than Oxbridge. Whatever happens, if you get top grades in those A-levels then you will probably get into a good university though.

@@IlyasCambridgeAdvice I have a question. If you work under the Professor, do you stay in his lab or office the entire day? or you still have your own free time and the supervisor is just there to assisst you in performing your research? Coz in Korea, i didnt actually like the fact that Im just in the lab the whole day when in fact I can study in the library and use my extra time to do other things. thanks.

It varies I think. For me, I just do my experiments whenever and my supervisor is happy as long as I do what I'm meant to be doing, and he's there for help when I need it

Hi.. I am also biology student want to pursue my Master degree in Cambridge University. Could help like to correct my personal statement? Thank you.. 🙏
@IlyasCambridgeAdvice3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Unfortunately I'm a bit busy to review your personal statement but here's a few tips -show it to people such as friends, family, teachers, etc and listen to what they have to say (although you don't need to do what they suggest) -keep re-reading it: this will minimise the chances of there being errors. -be concise. There shouldn't be any excess characters. -sell yourself without being misleading: you want to come across as an excellent candidate but don't give an unrealistic impression of yourself I've also got a video for personal statement advice, which isn't for Masters but it can still be useful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/enOrnKudYrxgfLc Hope that helps!

Honestly I don't think I'm the person to answer that question, I haven't really spent any time in either. Cardiff sounds nicer to me because I associate Luton with the airport.

I'd say a degree from a more prestigious university can make you more employable, and rankings can sometimes indicate what is more prestigious. So I'd say Cardiff sounds better
