Thanks for sharing this video. I was just getting started to do some research on a good point & shoot camera to get started with. I want something I can use in the field as well as when I'm out with the family.

I bought the G7X because it has many of the advanced features of a DSLR in a small package. So far, I am very pleased with it.

I appreciate your faith in my camera work. A great compliment. However, there are so many videos like this posted by people much more experienced than myself. Perhaps in time as I gain more knowledge and a greater body of work, I will have an opinion worth posting. Thanks or watching and taking time to comment!

This is great info, Mark. I have heard people talk about the Zoom H1, but I didn't know you could plug a lav mic into it. Audio is the biggest key to video I think. I'm planning on doing some backcountry filming this summer so this was great info.

Improving audio has made a huge difference for me. The lav mic I'm using is by Giant Squid - totally recommend.

I have a T3i that I mainly use for stills, and a Hero 3 black for water footage and such. Yet I find myself mostly using my iPhone 6 for sheer convenience and portability. If I get more serious about my video making I'll use my T3i and GoPro more.

iPhones shoot great video. My iPhone does not have the storage capacity to use it beyond a few short shots. Otherwise, I'd use it much more. When I next upgrade...

Have a Canon T5i. I really wanted that T3i, but they were blowing out T5i's for the same price as T3i's when Canon introduced the T6i's. I still want a T3i for b-roll footage. Great choices.

One feature of the T5i that i would like is auto focus for video. One day I hope to upgrade to the 70D for that feature alone. The T3i has served me well though...not complaining.

+Mountain Venture Awesome video man! Just found your channel. Have you tried using your Apecase as a chest pack? I'm wanting to take my T2i with me on a backpacking trip soon and have been looking at the Lowepro Toploader 50 to rig up as a chest pack off of my backpack straps.

Yes, I have experimented with the Apecase in a chest pack configuration. It is solid.
