There is a secret compartment in the dash most people don't know about. I think all Impala's have it. Somewhere near the screen there is a button and the screen slides up showing the compartment. Found some interesting stuff on my friends used Impala.

you need to try a 530d sport, or a 330d sport, i get 50+ mpg and it would leave that impala in dust, and the 6 pot bmw diesels are so quiet

I use a bug sprayer filled with water and a 10 or 12 inch putty knife when removing the popcorn texture on the ceiling. All you have to do is mist the ceiling with water then carefully scrape and the popcorn texture will come off in sheets.

Even if it was a truck, it would be a messy truck. If they had any sense they could of at least put a rubber mat down in the trunk, or used rubber containers to hold tools and supplies. Most of that was just plain trash, probably did crappy paint work too.

My detailer told me to go find the nastiest car I could at auction for 2k or less. Had to be drivable.. I came back with a 2002 dodge grand caravan that had done duty as either a family of very messy kids hauler or a garbage hauler. The auctioneer was begging for someone to bid. Got it for 100 bucks. It ran and drove but I wouldn't drive it. Loaded it on my rollback and delivered it to him. He did a 50/50 clean (cleaned the driver's half front to back and corrected paint on driver's side) everyone thought the van was staged but it did also generate a lot of income for him. Said it was the best 500 bucks he ever spent (van, auction fees and title transfer fees) a tree fell on it a few years back and that was the end of it

I think I would have used a shovel to clean out that trunk. 😏 I would be worried with that crappy treatment of the inside of the car that the previous owner wasn't too good about maintenance. I expect you will do soon an oil change, check the brakes, tires, suspension, replace filters as needed. For sure it needs a through cleaning inside and out including the ozone treatment.

If the seats otherwise are still supportive just with stains and ripped material, consider seat covers. You could buy one or two types sold online and review them. Diamond pleats and contrast stitching would brighten that dark interior. A rubber trunk mat would cover up the paint stains.

Randy, from another Randy, you’re probably right about the remote. The only exception is if you don’t have at least one original remote. My charger didn’t come with one, and for that reason I had to go to the dealer. The remote doesn’t have to be for an Impala. I got a deal on two minivan remotes, which work just fine.

Believe it or not, I once acquired a KUKA KR-325 Industrial Robot Arm that was retired from GM when the Impala line was dismantled. the robot was slated for scrap, but being part of a 501C3, I managed to rescue it and got GM a donation tax credit. I cleaned it up, repainted it and got it working again then used it as a tool to teach others how to program industrial robotics so others could get jobs programing robots in an industrial setting. I have no doubt, that robot welded part of this SS together.

I had a 2013 Impala LTZ and the 3.6 ltr was awesome however the dual overhead cams are chain driven and prone to being an expensive maintenance issue, that's 3 chains. I passed it along to another family member years ago but it is still running fine with well over 150k in miles. It was only a V6 but it performed more like a V8, very quick and throaty.

I had one of these as a rental for about a week or so give or take and it was called The midnight edition, it was beautiful blacked out, huge screen, he didn't go to seeds, I don't remember what year it was but it was at least 6 years ago or more It was an enterprise car, had a little over 10,000 mi on it. Now everybody gets bummed out when they hear about the V6 being the biggest engine but let me tell you that V6 is no slouch and on top of that, like Randy said, it gets great gas mileage. And that one being the midnight edition meant it was all blacked out, the crawl neck sense were black chrome, there was a bunch of things, different rims and so on Never got the dry one again but I sure wanted to keep the midnight edition, it was such a nice car, and such a nice ride.

I have a 17 Impala and it's never given me a day's trouble. I did take it to our local chain store that sells batteries and keys and they got me a new key fob and programmed it for me to about $130.

Had it happen on my wife's 2017. DO NOT replace the gasket! Remove the gasket clean all surfaces and use the right stuff and seal back in. If you replace gasket will leak again quickly. It cost us the amplifier behind that right side cover and the radio module. Total cost to me was $1,500.00. Car only had 8000 miles on it and would not cover it under warranty.

Front seats might be more than you think because you have to remember they have airbags in them plus occupancy sensors. Might be better off just trying to get the factory skins that go over the seat from a junkyard

The rechargeable lawn equipment is great, like any other rechargeable item though, they're good until the battery goes bad and then they're basically throw away. Made the switch to Toro 60V, mower, trimmer, edger and blower. Haven't looked back but I know the batteries will eventually fail.
