This probably only seemed like their best performance because gerard was gonna kill himself. So he probably gave it his all thinking it was his last show. We almost lost him, so glad we didnt.

@@lilyderooij this was his last night before getting clean and sober. He walked off the stage and vomited for like half an hour straight while the band stood around him worried he was about to die. And according to him, he actually wanted to die, like he’d planned to not come home from Japan. He didn’t pack anything in his suitcase except for his stage clothes.

@@antonionsfw I can't put links in comments, but here's what to search: the NME video interview with Gerard from 2007, the 'They Came From Outer Jersey' article from Spin Magazine in 2005, the "lost" interview with Kerrang from 2006. And Tom Bryant's biography about the band is a fantastic read for any hardcore fans. He spent a lot of time interviewing them and following them around for years and the book has tons of interesting background info.

We opened for them like a month before this in Idaho and had a great conversation with all of them. Sad to hear the comments. We filled them with all our love and gratitude for having us open for them a second time! Love y’all mcr!

Honestly when I'm on the verge of emotionally freaking the fuck out it helps to see how gerard was here. I'm really sad he went through this, but art really does help.

He was sad, drunk and high. He looked like he was gonna cry. The song was inspired by his grandma who passed. In every show that they had that song would always be on the list. Maybe less in the black parade shows but he would still sing it. Her dead and 9/11 is what caused him to be that way

the beggining of Thank You For the Venom is something that is haunting me, the guitar ""scream"" when it beggins feel like a sharp pain in the back of ur neck, its disturbing and magic, and THE RISING SUN INTRO OMG..
