People have to watch this show from beginning to end, it is truly inspiring! I respect any band who will keep playing at those circumstances. But tbh any other band would have back off or leave the stage with their egos broken but MCR keep playing. They're not eager to be popular or to fit in, they're pretty much used to be the outcasts. Is inspiring to see how by the end of the show people are clapping and singing along, it's like you're watching a completely different show from the one at the beginning. The way they played Thanks for the venom was so epic and Gee being as sassy as ever.

I actually think this show was really amazing. I mean, everything started out horribly with people showing them their middle fingers, throwing bottles and pretty much every song being announced falsely, but yet they played phenomenally, showed them how much they cared aka did not care about their so-called haters and EVEN managed to turn the crowd around and ended the show with everyone chanting, clapping and cheering for them. If that doesn't prove that band was special, then what does?

To anyone confused about the toxic crowd, in 2006 MCR weren’t too well received with the more close minded side of the older rock and metal fans. MCR played immediately after Slayer at reading that year, resulting in a high concentration of these people in the crowd. The more immature of the bunch were the ones throwing the bottles and cans. Edit: not to mention reading is overall a very toxic festival in general and acts get bottled fairly often

I was there in the crowd watching them when I was 16. It was my first of many Readings to come and I was so excited to finally see them live. I remember getting angry at people who were throwing bottles for being disrespectful. Probably could have got punched in the face but I didn't really think about that at the time. Haha! I enjoyed Slayer (who were on just before) and MCR so I never understood why people felt the need to bottle bands. If you don't like them, just walk away and come back later. Anyway, amazing show! I miss 7 years ago so much. They were even more amazing when they came back in 2011! Fans will always love and miss them. Thank you so much for posting! Great memories. :)

Yeah I feel you. I never saw them live, we're the same age. I remember it being frowned upon to listen to MCR. But I did so anyway, they were just good man. I understood WHY people disliked them but it was such a dumb reason. I'm still into them. I'm surprised it's acceptable NOW lol. Time changes shit, but I will always love what I want to love. Aight, peace!

The reading festival is full of crackheads. Most U.K. festivals are better then this
@ethansics94005 жыл бұрын
It’s really just because of the full festival lineup. The crowd was toxic because they followed Slayer, who have older metalhead fans and some of them are very closed minded about newer rock bands, especially some as operatic and theatrical as MCR
@Foxtrot66245 жыл бұрын
Ethansics Nope, it’s just because it’s Reading. They piss bottle every act that’s new to the festival and pretend it’s some sort of tradition when in fact it’s just that reading festival, and also reading in general ,is filled to the brim with subhuman scum.

+Bia you know, how the crowd was booing and throwing bottles of piss at them in the beggining and how, when they got to Helena, they managed to win their cheers and everything. Gerard talks about this set all the time in interviews, and it's amazing that they got to come back in 2010 and headline the whole fucking festival with an even bigger audience full of fans.

I heard they changed the set-list to a heavier set-list because they were placed on a stage that a metal band played before them, hence why they were getting bottled, still no reason to bottle a band, fuckers.

+Mrs. lesterfuentes Their 2011 show, Gerard is so much more confident. You can tell in this one that he's a little less sure of the stage, but in 2011 you can just see how free he's acting. He's quite stiff here.
