I'm a big My Chemical Romance fan. I spent my whole life with them, starting at the age of 9. They became my salvation when the adults nearby could not and did not want to provide it. Now I'm 24. Over the past few years, my passion for the guys has faded a little. I have struggled with bipolar disorder my entire life and over the last few months I have been going through probably the worst depressive episode I have ever had. I thought about ending it all. But just now I came across them in a playlist and went to KZbin. I've been crying my eyes out for about forty minutes now. I haven't cried in months. I think there is still hope. Thank you. Because the world will never take my heart

Something I find sad, is that some people don't know the meaning of this piece. A man dieing, on the brink of his life ending, and finally, the curtain falls... And he is greeted by the dead, the broken, the beaten and the damned, and he is welcomed into the march of the dead.

Yea, honestly I never give 2 fs abt the lyrics of songs, for me the song's meaning is always carried through the melody. Music is language less and you don't need words to convey emotion. Putting that aside this song reads like a goddamn poem. Under every song you can find someone calling it a masterpiece mainly cuz of personal preference but this is like a legit one
@kyleguajardo3 жыл бұрын
It's also sung by the people who are in the black parade, saying that they know they led lives that may not have been glorious, but they don't care, because in the end they carry on in death anyway. It also tries to comfort the guy by saying that the world may be cruel, but that he should define his death how he wants to, not hy anyone else's standards.

“He said, son when you grow up, will you be the saviour of the broken, the beaten and the damned?” These words resonate strongly with how I was raised by both my parents. They taught us to stand firmly in our truth even if that means standing alone. We were raised to understand the power of our voice and to never shy away from holding those in positions of power to account when they use that power to oppress and suppress. We were encouraged to defend those who struggled to defend themselves, to advocate for those without a voice. To demand fairness, truth, humanity and equality. Fast forward to now. I’m 48 years old. I’m watching the horrors of what is happening in Palestine. I’m witnessing the west fall silent and the persecution of unpopular opinions and the danger in truth . Those same parents who raised me seem to have lost their fearlessness, their resolve and the courage of their convictions. This breaks my heart because I don’t want to believe us kids were raised by hypocrites but as I’m voicing my outrage and standing firmly in my truth, disgusted at the injustice, it’s clear I’m standing alone. What I’m experiencing right now, took me back to this song and it’s message ❤

When I was a young boy My father took me into the city To see a marching band He said, "Son, when you grow up Would you be the savior of the broken The beaten and the damned?" He said, "Will you defeat them Your demons, and all the non-believers The plans that they have made?" "Because one day I'll leave you A phantom to lead you in the summer To join the black parade." (When I was a young boy) (My father took me into the city) (To see a marching band) (He said, "Son, when you grow up) (Would you be the savior of the broken) (The beaten and the damned?") Sometimes I get the feeling she's watching over me And other times I feel like I should go And through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets And when you're gone, we want you all to know We'll carry on We'll carry on And though you're dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on We'll carry on And in my heart I can't contain it The anthem won't explain it A world that sends you reeling from decimated dreams Your misery and hate will kill us all So paint it black and take it back Let's shout it loud and clear Defiant to the end we hear the call To carry on We'll carry on And though you're dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on We'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches On and on we carry through the fears Oh, oh, oh Disappointed faces of your peers Oh, oh, oh Take a look at me cause I could not care at all Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part I won't explain or say I'm sorry I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scars Give a cheer for all the broken Listen here, because it's who we are I'm just a man, I'm not a hero Just a boy, who had to sing this song I'm just a man, I'm not a hero I don't care We'll carry on We'll carry on And though you're dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on We'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part (We'll carry on!) My mother passed away this past month and my father back in 2013. I used to listen to this song back in the 2000s and it’s my first time hearing it since her passing. They were both very young, my father being 31 and her being 38. This song reminds me of them so much, even more so now that they’re both gone. If you have a parent of both parents still, hug them tight and tell them how much you love them all the time. The pain of not having both parents is indescribable. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I’m only 25 and have to live the rest of my life without them and “carry on” . Thank you MCR and Gerard Way for creating music and for this legendary song, for I know you have not helped only myself but so many others coping with life’s hardships. ❤

When I was a young boy My father took me into the city To see a marching band He said,Son when you grow up would you be the saviour of the broken the beaten and the damned? He said Will you defeat them your demons, and all the non believers the plans that they have made? Because one day Ill leave you, A phantom to lead you in the summer To join the black parade When I was a young boy, My father took me into the city To see a marching band He said, Son when you grow up would you be the saviour of the broken the beaten and the damned? Sometimes I get the feeling she watching over me And other times I feel like I should go And through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets. When youre gone we want you all to know Well carry on, Well carry on, And though youre dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on Well carry on And in my heart I can contain it The anthem wont explain it. A woman sends you reeling from decimated dreams Your misery and hate will kill us all So paint it black and take it back Lets shout it loud and clear Defiant to the end We hear the call To carry on Well carry on And though youre dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on Well carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches On and on we carry through the fears Ooh oh ohhhh Disappointed faces of your peers Ooh oh ohhhh Take a look at me cause I could not care at all Do or die You'll never make me Because the world, will never take my heart You can try, you'll never break me You want it all, you wanna play this part I won't explain or say I'm sorry I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scar Give a cheer, for all the broken Listen here, because it's only you I'm just a man, I'm not a hero I'm just a boy, who's meant to sing this song I'm just a man, I'm not a hero I -- don't -- care We'll carry on We'll carry on And though you're dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on You'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches on Do or die You'll never make me Because the world, will never take my heart You can try, you'll never break me You want it all, you wanna play this part We'll carry on Do or die You'll never make me Because the world, will never take my heart You can try, you'll never break me You want it all, you wanna play this part

@Claire Midkiff Is a tribute to Queen's A Night At The Opera and is about how Death, which the band members imagined would take the form of a strong memory when it comes for you, coming for the protagonist in the form of a parade his father took him to. The whole album is about a young man's experience dying and going to hell. There's a video explaining it by Polyphonic if you want: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWGVeoBtZ66eoZY.

Sometimes I get the feelin' She's watchin' over me And other times I feel like I should go And through it all, the rise and fall The bodies in the streets And when you're gone, we want you all to know We'll carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on We'll carry on And in my heart, I can't contain it The anthem won't explain it A world that sends you reelin' From decimated dreams Your misery and hate will kill us all So paint it black and take it back Let's shout it loud and clear Defiant to the end, we hear the call To carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on We'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches On and on, we carry through the fears Oh, ah, ha Disappointed faces of your peers Oh, ah, ha Take a look at me, 'cause I could not care at all Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part I won't explain or say I'm sorry I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scars Give a cheer for all the broken Listen here, because it's who we are Just a man, I'm not a hero Just a boy, who had to sing this song Just a man, I'm not a hero I don't care We'll carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on You'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches, oh Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on) Do or die, you'll never make me (we'll carry on) Because the world will never take my heart (we'll carry on) Go and try, you'll never break me (we'll carry on) We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on!)

22nd March 2018. I just spent the whole day listening to all of My Chemical Romance's song and this is the last one. This band has done so much for me and I am so grateful. They have inspired me, made me happy when I feel down and saved my life. They haven't just touched my heart but the heart of many others. So thank you. Remember killjoys never die. I remember my father introduced me to mcr when I was a kid. This was the first song he showed me, music video and all. He told me it reminded him of his own battles and he hoped it helped me understand him better. its still one of his favorite songs and bands, he cherished the cd he owned of it, but unfortunately lost it in a move. After years of not seeing him and learning he lost the cd I took myself to the nearest place that sold cds and ordered it in and gave it to him on his birthday last year Hes a man of few words, but he invited me to sit down and listen to this song again with him. I understood, without a word spoken between us there was an understanding of what we both wanted to say without saying it. I will always be grateful to this band, thank you 🤍
