Let's see what the writers were thinking with such a miserable punishment: they are doctors (without mentioning the ethical and moral issue) and they damaged medical equipment. They heard "MEDICAL" equipment and that they make that equipment save the lives of "PEOPLE", only with that action were they able to put in danger to thousands of lives, that was not just a cut, it was a direct dismissal and most importantly a summons for the revocation of their licenses, people like that do not deserve to practice such a profession.
