Hi Veda! I'm so happy for you that you got into all three of the schools you applied to through your hard work! The fact that you got into CalArts is really amazing! Congratulations :) I am going to be applying to animation/illustration programs this year. I'm actually a freshman studying biomedical sciences at university right now, but I want to transfer to a school to study art because that's where my passion really lies. I never thought about using a spreadsheet to organize information about universities/art schools! Although I'm a bit late to the game, I hope I can get into some of the schools I apply to. I also want to apply to CalArts eventhough I don't think I'll get in :')

hi! I'm a sophmore and my entire family are engineers and doctors yet i'm the odd one out who's planning on going to art school, currently looking for advice and stuff cause my school doesn't allow you to see a career counciler till junior year. My mom is super supportive and is encouraging me every step of the way even if all my classmates are becoming doctors, engineers, and going to yale. ^^

Kind of unrelated, but any tips on how to balance drawing (+other hobbies) and IB program?? I'm thinking about doing it next year, but people say it's basically impossible to ballance both. I also want to go to an art college in the future, do you think the IB diploma will be somehow usefull for that? Is it worth it? Also sorry if my grammar is confusing, english isn't my first language (〒﹏〒) Love your channel

I mean, people told me doing IB and doing youtube at the same time is impossible, or I'll just have no free time at all, but surprisingly I started to upload more when IB started because it trained me to REALLY get my life together. So, It really depends on you! Yes, IB is a lot of work, and it is immensely tough (there will be a few sleepless nights, and breakdowns, and stress too no doubt ) -- but I really believe, if you're passionate something, you will always find a way to continue doing it despite all the challenges you may face :-) I mean, as much as I dislike doing IB and all the stress and anxiety it has caused me, there are good sides too. I do truly think IB has made me a better student and I've learnt a lot through the program. A lot of universities also do acknowledge the immense amount of workload and difficulty of the program too! As for wanting to go for art colleges, it depends on which one. I think IB diplomas are more suited for general university programs especially since you write a lot of essays and research a lot in IB, but as for art school, I'd probably say you need it less? Some schools (just from the top of my head) like RISD, do take your grades into account compared to schools e.g. like Calarts who look at the porfolio more. IB really is a lot of work, and although you will probably learn a lot more and acquire more skills (and be more prepared to handle large amounts of work), it's not necessarily needed for art school. I'd say if you think you're generally organised and get work done efficiently, IB isn't as difficult everyone makes it to be (but it still is, just exaggerated). So in the end, it really depends on you! Sorry for the long response and I hope this helps!! I might do some IB storytime videos after I graduate too who knows 🤣

Hi there! So I’m going into my junior year of highschool and am thinking about this whole process. The only issue I’m having with precollege is that I would really love to apply to one like CalArts or RISD for next summer, but they’re just so expensive! I’m not sure if you have any tips for that, but the price is a bit of an issue. Also for SCAD I’m not sure if you’d be comfortable sharing, but what exactly did they consider good grades? You said you got a big scholarship there because they probably thought your grades were good so I was just wondering what that might look like. This video was soo helpful, though, so thank you for that!
