typically in the states the more private the room the more you pay so a triple in a traditional hall(communal bathrooms) costs way less than a single in a suite style( has private or semi private bathroom most costly before getting an on campus apartment) of course while it's typical across the country my figures are mostly based on my school

My college (University of New Orleans) has dorms kinda like apartments. There’s a huge building and you go down the halls until you find your room. Then, you go through that room into a living area and there’s four doors where each person has their own room. It’s super cool, too bad I’m going to university of Michigan next year where I’ll have to share a room :P
