Born in 1961 First summer job was at Steeplechase Park at the games. I was a young teenager and made very good money. Worked with my best friend. Was living in Brighton Beach at the time, just a short walk away.

I was born in 1950 at Coney Island Hospital and lived on Stillwell Ave. My father repaired rides at Coney Island. I remember the electric horses and the big slide at Steeplechase Park. Waffles & ice cream on the boardwalk. Hot brown waffles with 3 scoops of ice cream, can never forget the taste. Because my father worked there, I was able to get on many rides for free. As a small boy, it was a fantastic adventure. I think The Magic Carpet ride had that laughing fat lady, I can still hear her. I feel so lucky that I got to experience such childhood magic.

I was born in 1952 and grew up in Bensonhurst. My first job was at Nathan's! Was just wondering: do you remember the Thunderbolt? The Tornado? The Coney Island Bobsleds? The Virginia Reel? I actually rode the Parachute Jump. Remember vividly my first ride on the Wonder Wheel and the Cyclone! Thank you so much for this!

I'm not as old as some of the others that posted comments here but I remember my parents taking me to the last day steeplechase park was opened , by that time there really wasn't much left , and my mother got into an argument with the midget with the air hose as he was suppose to make the ladies dresses blow up in the air as they passed by . but we still enjoyed Coney island for some years after that , every summer we'd go to Washington Baths , there you could get a locker and use their pool , afterwards they had showers and even a steam room , but as the sixties ended the crime increased at Coney Island , it just became to dangerous . I returned to Coney island around 1981 , it seemed like they were trying to make things better but it still was seedy , so I went a few more times and around 87 , was my last time there , my brother tells me they've done wonders for Coney island , that was good to know .
