My issue with “Cake” (and honestly, the entire album) was that everything felt very safe. This was Itzy’s fourth year anniversary (and possibly their most crucial chance to reestablish themselves as one of the biggest groups amongst the 4th gen). JYPE should’ve thrown everything at making this work. But since they have lost all sense of direction with the group, they’re seemingly just going with whatever will get them a return on their investments. What really adds salt to the wound is how their Japanese title tracks have been everything that a lot of people want out of their Korean ones.

Imo, Pixy’s music hasn’t gotten worse. It’s become more generic. “Wings” and “Let Me Know” stand out so much compared to “Villain” and “Karma”. They were in contention to be the 4th generation’s Dreamcatcher. Those genres of rock, metal, and dub step are rare to find in other groups as prominently as they are in Dreamcatcher’s discography. So, Pixy really stood out. Now, they sound pretty much like most of their peers and just have a dark concept. I think this leaves Pink Fantasy as the only idol group staying faithful to those more unique influences (since Dreamnote returned to their cute concept).

yes, you're right, you put it into words well! it's a pity that pixy decided to go for a more commercial sound, but I'm not surprised by them. I hope they will be more successful :((

I honestly don’t know why so many people want StayC to change concepts. Given how many groups are doing girl crush/girl boss/elegant concepts, StayC’s sound makes them stand out to me. And let’s all remember how everyone hated Weeekly’s shift from cute concepts to “Ven Para”.

I don't mean that suddenly they should change their concept by 180 degrees and start doing girl crush. my problem is that their latest releases are very similar in every respect - aesthetics, music videos, sound. everything is practically the same and there is no way to describe it other than simply 'cute'. and that wasn't the case back then. their songs were also lovely, but they also had other flavors and that's gone now. I would love to see if they continued the cute concept but in a slightly different version, not necessarily dancing with children and teedy bears. In my opinion, a nice idea would be a cute concept combined with something futuristic? or retro? or maybe more elegant cute? there are really a lot of ideas and I feel like they are doing the same thing over and over again and there is nothing to it except being extremely cute. thank you for your comment!

They should do something Teen Crush like So Bad or Run2U again. That is the concept that suited them the most. They can also try elegant concept like WJSN Save me save you, not every concept that is not cute is girl crush. If they try girl crush it can be something like Gfriend Mago and would be like more mature So Bad.

Re STAYC: there's a moment when girl groups decide they are grown beautiful women singing grown beautiful woman music. I hoped that Beautiful Monster was that moment. I think it will be.
