My Controversial Thoughts On Bleach!

Before I start to make Bleach content I thought it was important to give my honest thoughts on the series because the things I've said about Bleach Currently don't reflect my genuine opinion on the series.

Bro…. The TYBW anime has only 2 well adapted fights and Kubos story additions are carrying. TYBW in the manga was goated, just rushed at the end because of Kubos health issues and Shonen Jump rushing him. The anime really needs to step it up in adapting the fights with good animation and choreography. Everything feels rushed and blitzed through, the way they transition the scenes, especially in battles is so annoying. It’s honestly an insane letdown thus far. Hope cour 3 is better.

@@someclevername8167 The story additions are carrying this adaptation. If it weren’t for them more people would realize how lifeless the animation is, the art also helps mask the animation woes. Ep 6 & 7 of last cour were the only well adapted fights and the other episodes like episode 1 were good and 13 for story. They dropped the ball extremely hard with cour 2.

Bleach was one of those series that when first watching, I thought was good, but not amazing. Overtime it really has grown on me. Kubo's edgy and yet subtle character work has become some of my favorites in anime.

I think this happens to a lot of people, bleach doesn`t shine the brightest with the first read or watch, it`s something that sticks and grows, we need time to connect the dots and understand it`s symbolism and philosofical aproaches. I’d say it’s worth getting into now for the new content thanks to a decent bit of changes during the back half of cour 2, but waiting for cours 3 and 4 is also valid, since it looks like that’s where most of the changes are going to be. At the pace they’re adapting the manga, we’re likely to get roughly 10 episodes worth of brand new content in cours 3 and 4. 10/26 episodes being new content is a massive amount. It really seems like we’ll be getting Kubo’s proper vision for the end of the series. He was rushed to end the series during the run of the manga, sadly.

Naruto talking to Gaara is way different, he's a hurt child empathizing with another similarly hurt child, showing him that his pain isn't unique, he isn't alone, and he can find a better way to carry himself in the wake of his pain. You can see the meaning of this reflected in Gaara's character development and speech before the 4th War. He's not just spelling it out for the audience, it's a moment of character connection, with direct implications on the future of the story.

I never understand the animosity between fans of each of the big 3. They all feel the need to shit on the other, for no reason. I've read One Piece and Naruto since they first came out (which was incredibly hard, because I was still learning Japanese while in the military, lol). I picked up Bleach when it first came out, too. While Naruto is my favourite, I very much enjoy and have a lot of love for both One Piece and Bleach. I think all 3 are amazing series and are all time greats. I feel like comparing Bleach to newer anime that you’ve seen beforehand is unfair due to timing of releases between the verses. But honestly the Byakuya saving Rukia bit of the video shows that you really didn’t delve in to the show at all. Especially with calling Ichigo cringe for saying “he doesn’t fight alone.” But the Byakuya one is worst to say it’s the most obvious writing when it’s the only one to make sense after we learned Byakuya reasonings. He never wanted to kill Rukia but his clan governs the Law in Soul Society so if he was to break it it would look terrible for his family name, but he also wanted to protect Rukia since his deceased Wife told him to. The moment he found out Central 46 was dead and Order was given by Aizen a traitor he no longer risked breaking the law to save her due to her case needing to be judged properly. He saving Rukia makes sense and would’ve cheapened his character had someone else saved Rukia here. The Kenpachi vs ichigo bit was bad because ichigo letting Kenpachi know the difference between them allows Kenpachi to grow as a character in the series. He yearns for his zanpaktous name and strives to grow stronger for the first time ever. Saying they’re cringe or the most obvious answer (especially for the reason you said) just cheapens what actually happened and removes agency of the characters.

Not really him having a hand in Ichigo's development is kinda the weakest part of his character in my opinion I know all the Aizen "just as planned" memes but eh never found the whole him planning and being one step ahead that engaging character wise. I mean yeah it's "hype" and "peak" when he's slashing down all the captains and fooling them But the reason I like Aizen is personal motivations for nudging Ichigo in a certain direction for a worthy opportunity and his rejection of the idea of blindly following someone who refuses to actively make themselves known in person. But again there are other characters in fiction that I personally prefer more than Aizen. He's a good villain but not better than ALL of anime and manga.

When it comes to grimmjow, its not too hard to see why so many liked him. He was pretty much the only one that displayed defiance towards aizen in the group minus barragan, but we dont see barragans anger towards aizen until he dies. This gives grimmjow a vegeta like element when he hated frieza but was still a villain. Clashing with ulquiorra was like vegeta vs zarbon a bit. In addition, he displays his own moral compass, like helping/saving orihime as payment for healing his arm. Then they basically had multiple fights over and over, showing a bit of a rivalry and build up for there final encounter. So yeah idk, i kinda get why many liked him

The thing with SS arc and why people rate it so high is actually the anime. It had only one filler ep, it was beautifully realised and animated and the stakes kept rising while the plot behind the main rescue mission became more and more entangled and intriguing. The atmospheric osts and the incredible VAs helped as well.

There is a reason the big 3 exist. People argue how one piece is better than both naruto and bleach, or how naruto stomps, or how Bleach stomps; neither of them stomp. The big 3 are equal, yes they have complimentary traits that one up the other in certain algorithms; but in an overall comparison, these anime are one of the building blocks of the new generation, and are equally as fascinating; captivating, and Wonderful to read/watch.

Alot of BLEACH is just people growing to be better. Shows best with Ichigo who can't grow without that realization that he's more than what he thought. Byakuya becomes better when he takes the mask off and stands for what he believes in, not what Gotei wants. Rebellion and growth are the core of BLEACH and it starts with Death and a Strawberry.

The main theme is death and loss , each character lost something precious like ichigo, orihime , rukia , byakuya , chad , uryu and get their different grief , they are all trying to overcome that grief despite their loss they are trying to live

Good video, I’m glad to finally get your honest thoughts on the series (even if your twitter shitposts are funny as fuck). I’m curious as to whether you’ll do proper scaling videos for the series in the future, I think it’d be pretty interesting to get your perspective on it. The series is getting some new viewership now thanks to the TYBW anime, but other than that, most people who scale bleach have been doing so as long-time fans. Since you only finished the manga a year ago, you might have something new to offer. A fresh pair of eyes, and all that. The Bleach scaling meta is far from being solved, even now, partly due to new content in the TYBW anime, obviously, but also due to SAFWY, an entire novel full of batshit crazy feats that doesn’t have anything close to a proper English translation. Even without those things, though, there’s still some parts of the series that I think could use some more examination. But now I’m just rambling, speaking from the perspective of a long time fan and scaler of the series. Never stop trolling on twitter, btw, shit’s hilarious. Kid Sakura > soul king, etc etc.

Instead of saying I think so-and-so is excellent because of ABC and it could do better because of ABC, it ends leaving the audience with "the show doesn't make feel good about so and so"...Of course, nothing wrong with saying "I don't feel good about so and so", it however, changing and shapes the narrative that part of the show "does not convey or produce good feelings" if that is the only thing you say about that part of the show....

Ichigo being a hybrid or mix breed is a contoversial topic between fans , many of them deosnt appreciate it and its understandable , the main reason i think ichigo having four races is symbolic of four miatama of shinto belief (having four souls in one body), its also used in inuyasha which is a big inspiration for bleach , hope that helps , i agree with most of your vidoe with ss being oveerated definetely and arranacar saga is sefinetely my 2nd favourute after tybw , althought i dont know why you think everything was lame in that arc , some of the criticism was valid that you pointed out quincjes were not enough fleshed out I am no one to judge you but can i ask why unohana being a kenpachi was lame 😂, it was definetely a good plot twist with enough hints , is it because it felt cringey to you ?🤔

If you like Bleach, I would suggest reading Saint Seiya. It has been confirmed to be a heavy inspiration for Bleach, to the point where Soul Society Arc and the Sanctuary Arc respectively, follow almost all the same beats. Also, the Captains are incredibly similar to the Gold Saints in their respective series.

Kubo is very creative when it comes to writing manga from his perfect sync of black and white to using the panels or flip of pages to show an action through them igs like breacjing the 3rd wall. And although Bleach isnt perfect, there are very good reasons why it was considered one ofthe big 3. Im glad its finally getting the flowersit deserves. For TYBW, it couldn't be helped alot of things were going on during its time of creation but the anime expanded on the story bigger than ichigo, so its worth watching if you are willing. That ending though, Aizen king 👑

I definitely agree with a lot you said in this video! Aizen from the moment he showed his true colors to the Thousand Year War Arc was my favorite character in the manga and top ten favorite fictional character ever. I will also say that the final arc I didn’t like at all, one particular reason being the discovery of Ichigo’s true heritage. It’s not that I didn’t care, I just felt mixing it all together should’ve led to him being more powerful but it didn’t. If they just left it at him being half Soul Reaper and Quincy, I would’ve been fine with that but adding fullbring was unnecessary. Finding out that Zangetsu was really Ywach did surprise but I then realized that it’s obvious when you look at Ywach. The fact that Ichigo was so stunned by it annoyed me since Hollow Ichigo was the one who always came to his rescue, but Ichigo’s bias caused him to think negatively towards it. I feel it should’ve been written that he accepts Hollow Ichigo and that would lead to a greater power source instead of using both Reaper and Quincy powers

Very interesting take. But no the old Kenpachi thing wasn't lame, just made sudden in an extremely hyped up way. And while there were hints to stuff like that, Kubo never bothered to show her fighting before then. Thus missing a perfect chance to demonstrate her actual power, before facing off with Zaraki. Even if it were a little, it would've been better than that tone shift after a big character died. But overall that last felt rushed and sloppy at the same time. And I wonder if you thought more big characters should've died there as many fans had wished for, in hindsight.

And trust me I watched milions of reactions on some of the bleach fights and episodes, only 1-2 people figured out what kubo was trying to express with that line or that fight or that foreshadowing If kubo was making One Piece he would finish it in 700-800 episodes max and not a single important detail would be missing, it would be just placed carefully in kubo way for reader to find out if he is not dumb...

Honestly I do find various Akatsuki Members more memorable than the Espada as a whole and I don't even know everything about them. I think the word you're looking for, for Baraggan is "pretentious" which I can understand. I was there when you spoke of not liking TYBW in a stream and I'll still stand by my words then that I'm sorry you feel that way and hopefully the anime can fix it for you. It's certainly a different vibe than the prior arcs which is the intention so if you're into Bleach for a certain vibe your feelings are understandable. That's kinda why I don't really blame anyone for not getting into Bleach until Soul Society too. Personal or not I don't know if it'd help but there's a lot of cool explanations and/or foreshadowing for some of the plot beats you dislike that could be cleared up if you really wanted to know. Other than that I'm sure Scaling will be interesting, but I will watch your Bleach career with great interest.

I first watched Bleach 5 or 6 years ago and enjoyed what I experienced a bunch at times and thought the story was really good plus the characters were a real highlight to me but then later on read the manga after finding out TYBW was the true ending and thought it wasn't as great as the rest of the series but still really fun and had very huge and important moments/things to wrap up. Also still don't like the ending but maybe the TYBW anime will help it out a lot but probably not fix it completely either way I've grown to love the series more and more as the years go on so hyped to see if the Hell arc gives us something truly special.
