Just preen Oolong's head and not the body, and see if that works...notice how Kue only preens the head.

yeah it's 4 years too late now so I don't expect the video poster to want to know now, but 1. using the whole hand like that can be interpreted by smaller birds as the hand being "you", and another bird laying across them would be interpreted as wrestling or mating behavior. Also preening anywhere other than the head is going to be interpreted as mating behavior so it's not a good idea, and I hope they didn't continue to do that when this baby got older...
Well there parakeets so thee that one in you playing with now is a conure

1. The parrot is asking to be preened when you try. 2. You are touching places the budgies are not. Wait for the offer and then only touch where the parrot cannot. Head and upper neck.

IT looks like you are sexually stimulating the bird by touching general nono areas. i have a black cap conure who behaves similarly right before he tries to hump my hand and i have had to learn that with him I couldn't treat him the same as my other conure since is he far more hormonal.

You seem to be distressing the poor bird.

Sharp trills aren't always negative. It can be a range of emotions from excitement to happiness to anger. If the bird was distressed in pretty much any way it'd attempt to escape and move away, it's very clearly laying down, something ANY bird will NEVER do if they're feeling anything negative. It'd have to be comatose to let you do that in a negative connotation.

no. this is playing. if the bird was distressed, they would fly away.

Why do you ignore your birds body language? He doesn't want to be touched by you so just leave him alone! It's simple

Seems more like playing and less like serious distress Her pets clearly trust her - preening is also very important so I understand the sentiment in trying to get the caps off as the owner
@Ann-ds2tm Жыл бұрын
@@annonion2612 No it doesn't. If the bird is trying to push your hand away it's stressed and doesn't enjoy that. Preening is also something the birds do on their own completely.
@annonion2612 Жыл бұрын
@@Ann-ds2tm it'd rather try to move away and escape and not continue to lie on its back and expose its belly to you from what I know Owners usually have to help preen the head if there aren't any other birds around, it's not something they can do on their own - luckily, Kue helps preen Oolong, but I get why you'd still want to help there as the owner
