I with you on cost. Had to return back to the US to take care of some issues. Unbelievable how expensive it is. Getting an inexpensive hotel is outrageous. $80/night and upwards (prices jacked up due to vouchers to homeless/illegal migrants living on the government expense). Defiantly can see an increase in meals. A taco shop, two burritos $24. Car rental for three weeks $1600 Just a small example. Looking forward to getting back to S.E. Asia later this month. Some of the best street food and the night market is fun to walk. You should go to spend time in Georgetown. Lots of colonial sights, cultural housing, temples (seen one too many 😁). Many different neighborhoods that you can walk around. Queens bay to the south. Gurney, where all the retired Expats live. Chinatown. Little India. Waterfront. Colonial section with neat buildings. I’m a female solo traveler. I always stayed at Airbnb run by a family. I always enrolled with STEP by our State Department and received travel advisory news from the embassy. I always carried my passport with me and had copies of it in my locked luggage. For the past 25 years traveling in SE Asia, Japan, and even India safety was always my top priority and I never found myself worried for my safety. I don’t wear any jewelry. Never show my cash. Dress comfortable but modestly. Respect the host’s religion. And I almost always received courtesy and support from my host. Know what’s available in the area you’re staying-embassy or consulate, hospital, police, bank, pharmacy, and of course…market. Just good preparation and you will enjoy your trip with peace of mind. 🍁

Generally safe yet we are not free of crime. As long as you dont deal with drug dealers 😂 As a Malaysian, i just want to highlight an issue of the abundant of immigrant workers here with many even illegal ones. Most of them used to stare at female travellers as if they haven't seen ladies before. Which we find this rude in our culture. Some even request to snap photos with those ladies. It's quite annoying to some travellers. In case you bump into this situation, just shout at them to go away haha Yeah we have been facing lots of immigrant issues for a very long time and we are sick of it!

@@RetireandGo I'm pretty sure you could make some nice videos, but there is no way you can stay within your travel budget. Norway and Switzerland are also very expensive. From google: "In 2023, the highest price level for consumer goods and services among the EU countries was observed in Denmark (43 % above the EU average)". According to Statista, the average salary in Copenhagen is 624,000 Kr (52,000 Kr per month) or USD 93.099 (USD 7.758 per month). Latest data is from 2022 and might not accurately reflect current earnings in 2024. It is worth to travel around Europe by train- relatively inexpensive and so many beautiful places to visit Switzerland and Norway are just out of this world. You can buy a Rail Pass that gives you unlimited train travel to more than 30 countries in Europe.

People should not waste 90 days visa free as it is a privilege given by our government.
