just started this species and already love it 😍 only at queen stage she is so chill and beautiful . i had nothing after 2 weeks but i did give her a small piece of roach butt 😂 and she smells the roach and eats it now after 2 weeks big pile of eggs and already 4 larvae she doing very well. better than my messor barbarus still only eggs. camponatus ligniperda 1 worker 3 eggs , pheidole pallidula 4 workers out of 6 and still no eggs

It's because they don't need as much space in the nest as u think they just need a bigger outer world.

The only thing I can think of as to why they are only partially occupying the nest is to do with the humidity distribution but to be honest its probably just ants being ants and wanting to fully develop the numbers to occupy the whole space 👍

I own 2 colony of crematogaster scutellaris, in italy knowed as 'red head ants', and they are so beautiful for their fast growing and for the territoriality. Your colony is also very beautifull, But if I can give you advice i tell you to remove the dirty outworld by removing all the ants one by one . Ps . I use your fluon and it's very strong and hard to pass trought. GREETINGS FROM ITALY.

Beautiful ladies! From experimenting with materials myself, dry wood is definitely a preference or much more dry nesting area. I love how they swarm to the surface when you mist the setup down. Great footage buddy 🐜
