Yeah I'm sure to an extent a lot of the aesthetics are mostly for the benefit of the owner, but I think most animals would be happier in something like this than they would in a basic enclosure with just a food dish, and a fake rock.

I have one fern that survived that’s still going, and the microfauna are doing great. You’re set ups are amazing and making me want to try again. I know my Crestie would be happier with living plants for sure.

Henry almost looks axanthic when he's fired down and in shed. Such good looking cresties. Love geckos so much. I have 4 different age crested babies/juvies and 1 leopard gecko. The cresteds are still in tubs to grow out for a while longer. The bigger 2 that are about 7-12 months old will go in their bioactive tanks in probably a month or a little longer, just to make sure the plants have grown in and I'm also in no rush since they are doing fine in their tubs for now. The smaller 2 I have are not even the size of my pinky so they won't be going in the converted 29g for another meh... almost a year probably. I'll see how fast they grow. I may get a 10 gallon and convert it upright just to get them into a bioactive setup a bit sooner. Next project will be to get my leopard gecko a larger tank. I love watching your channel for inspiration and totally share your infatuation with ficus pumila. Sadly my order from Josh's frogs I just got was really bad. They sent me 4 completely eaten up plants that don't even look like what they are supposed to be. So I'm hoping to get replacements from them since I can't use these plants at all. I know their quality is normally a lot better. I don't know what the person that packed my order was thinking really. Especially because the plants that were all bad were just tossed in with a 10L bag of hydroton without any buffers or care taken that they wouldn't get squished. But they are dying anyway due to parasites. Really upsetting they would send something like this to a loyal customer. I'm hoping they'll make it right, I would hate to have wasted 20 dollars plus 12 shipping 😔

@dakotarohrer55205 жыл бұрын
man you rock at this! I am planning on getting a Ball python or 2 in the near future and would love to build something like this for them. obviously I would do two separate ones but Im definitely getting lots of ideas from your videos! I will need to do some research before going ahead with it though. from what Ive read, Ball pythons like to have a relatively dry warm place to hide away but they also like having a cool damp water source to drink and soak in. They ALSO like to have SOME humidity but they like to choose when they expose themselves to it. Im thinking about doing a 150G or a 180G with one side being for a more humid area, damp with the same kind of substrate idea you use to trp in moisture. then maybe the water source right next to it (not quite in the middle) with a waterfall to sharpen it up. then it would give me roughly 2/3-1/2 of the tank to gradually transition the substrate to just plain coconut husk until the complete opposite side of the tank is 100% coconut husk with the heat mat underneath the tank in that location. That should give them the warm dry area. Then I will put the heat LAMP on the top of the opposite side, or the "humid" side, which in my mind should work out perfectly. I would need to also choose the best isopods for the job of breaking down the feces and sheds from the python. any ideas or advice on this whole idea would be much appreciated!! or if you could even MAKE something like what Ive explained, in a video, that would be sweet!
