Yes I do like curling wands better because they create a different kind of curl than the ones with the clips do. Also, I find them quick and easy to use because I can just wrap my hair around it and I don't have to fool with the clip part!

Yes, you can just use a regular curling iron and wrap your hair around it without lifting up the clamp.
