Someone asked me to do a video of my supplies, so no tutorial video today. I usually list all my supplies and things in the description box, but maybe that's not enough information. So I try including some more information in this video about my experiences n things. I have to say though, some of my brushes are from local brands, so you might not find it if you live in another country.. They're either synthetic or mixed hair, so hopefully you'll be able to find your substitute. I definitely recommend synthetic if you're new to watercolours, because if you're new and not know how to use the brush properly the bristles can get damaged easily, and considering synthetic brushes are very cheap, I would definitely get that for starters. I personally still use them too because they're just handy to have :) I hope that this video could be useful to some of you and I'll be back with more tutorial videos next week. Hope you guys enjoy ^_^

i found that the gouache falls out of the wells when it is dry in those folding plastic pallets. So before you start painting you have to re-file all the crunchy little chunks. But i haven't found a better alternative for a palette to take out and about.

I enjoy this type of videos a lot, I get to see what the artists I like use and decide if I want to try it or not. For example, I've seen some bad reviews for the pentel watercolors but you use them very beautifully so I may try them in the future, also I bought the Koi watercolors recently and I've been seeing some artists saying some of the same things you said but seeing examples of your work with them inspired me to keep using them while I learn how to work with watercolors.

I think if you're new its better to stick with one palette first and get yourself comfortable with the medium, thn once you're comfortable, thts when I feel would be the effective time to experiment with other brands. Koi was my first palette that I painted more seriously with so even if tbe reviews are not perfect, its still worth using and learning from if thats whats available to you 😊😊😊 have a great day and happy painting! ❤❤❤

You're absolutely right about the supplies not defining the artist. I'm here in the states and I buy a lot of different things because we have access to so much. I've made some of my worst works with the highest quality papers or paints that others have recommended. My best painting so far was on the "worst" paper, it's all practice and learning to work with what you have available.
@Nianiani
@Nianiani 4 жыл бұрын
hahaha same! xD maybe if you're a complete professional where you have such great control with wet on wet, I think paper would matter, because it absorbs differently, but in terms of paint, I don't think it matters too much. Different brands and different pigments act differently, so its all about getting acquainted with your own paints. In terms of the fundamentals of art.. then it can technically be practiced with any medium :))

If you would like to learn the fundamentals of portrait and figure drawings, I'd recommend for you to check out proko's channel. He's a great teacher. To draw even anime style, you would need to know the classic fundamentals. So if portrait and figure drawing is your interest I'd definitelly suggest you to focus on learning it 😊
