The father had killed the mother and brother. The father was writing the letters from "mother" himself, and used the perfume to scent them. The fungus originally grew out of their decaying bodies. The father had become obsessed with it, even drinking tea made from it. I suspect that the chili was made from it, too.

That was a good story. Plot twist. The mushrooms are hallucinogenic and very toxic. Completely paralyzed. Locked in a nightmare, unable to get out of his own mind. Lying in a hospital bed, family all around him. For the rest of his life.

Slight spoiler warning "You're so ungrateful I finally made dinner for you...." WOW like a PARENT you actually FED YOUR CHILD. Shocker. I don't think the child is the issue here. I cooked for my family starting at 11 (and had been cleaning and doing laundry for years so wasn't a child who's parents did everything) and find this ridiculous ugh. This kid clearly doesn't know how to cook for himself and you're just neglecting him. I know it's fake but it still makes me upset lol OH man as this goes on it gets even worse. I hope it's the mushies and not how he really feels.
