Today's hunting vlog is all about putting my dad on his first whitetail deer ever! I'm using one of my last cull buck tag on the deer lease so that my dad's first buck is a really special one. It's an amazing day in the outdoors with LFG and and epic father son moment.

Loved this episode. I only had the chance to hunt with my father once before he passed away from cancer. He was struggling just getting us into the woods but he really wanted to hunt with me. We spent a week in the Pocono mountains here in PA, got the chance to shoot a small 6 pointer. I cherish that memory. He passed away six days after we got back from the hunt. I was 12, I am now 37 and it still brings me to tears thinking about how sick he was but mustered up the power to make into the woods to take his boy hunting. So, guys, cherish these times you get to spend with your father and children, make the most of it because you never know when it will be the last memory you have with them. Thanks for sharing this.

My dad passed when I was 11, currently 15, and we never got to hunt together. I’ve done a lot of bird hunting since, but never his favorite, deer hunting. Well last season I went to my friends ranch and with my grandpas passed down .243 went out by myself and filled a doe tag, and eight point, and two hogs. All dropped in place except for the buck who ran 35-40yds and bedded down in the bushes and died. It was a great feeling of accomplishment and I could tell my dads and grandpa were with me because my shooting was perfect. (Sorry if this doesn’t make sense...)

Rusty Marlett My dad and I raised bird dogs and hunted quail when I was young. Deer were not populated into our area until later. The first season for deer hunting in our part of the state opened in the late 60's. Because we were such avid bird hunters we weren't real excited about deer. We soon gave up hunting because accessing land was next to impossible. Later, in the early 80's, I began to deer hunt. Eventually, I dragged Daddy in with me. We hunted successfully together for over 20 years until his health began to deteriorate. Those years were some of the best experiences of my life. They are only surpassed by the memories made on stand with my children. Thanks for bringing back such happy thoughts during such trying times.

My best memories of my life are my dad picking me up from middle school and taking me dove hunting on public land in north Texas. We hit every freking field possible every evening. I am a father myself now and I hope to be half the man my dad was. He always told me how his father or my “grandfather” bailed on his family and my dad. I swore to myself when I saw my son I would never turn my back on that boy and teach him everything I know. My old man loved turkey hunting. He wasn’t the best hunter and we had to learn how to chase those thunder chickens together. The first bird I killed, I will never forget, I was 80 yards or so set up away from my dad and we were both working a gobbler. I killed this bird, my dad walked around a tree line and I put my hands up in the air in celebration. That hug I received from my old man will never leave me. I hope to be half that man is someday. Congrats to you and your dad man.

This one really tugs at my heart, my dad is 82 years old and two years ago he shot his very first deer in his life and it was a spike, and last year I had the opprotunity to let him shoot the best deer I have ever seen on my deer lease which was a 3-1/2 year old 9 point and we made the greatest memory I have ever had with my dad, it was epic! I had it mounted for him with the agreement that I would get the mount in his will so I could enjoy it as much as he did. So I just want you to know that I know exactly how you feel, so cherish the moment because unfortunately we don't have our fathers forever. I'm so happy for you for getting to experience this with your dad, it is priceless.

What an amazing experience. I grew up with a Dad and Step-dad, who both got me into the outdoors in some degree. Step dad gave me the love of fishing while when I was young, Mom and Dad owned a cabin in the Mountains. I wish I could have the experience of taking my step dad out fishing for Bass and show him how much my skills have improved over the years I have spent Tournament fishing. I now spend my outdoor time filming National Parks and public lands for my KZbin channel with an occasional fishing video thrown in. I wish that I could share these experiences with both of them but Dads been gone now for almost 20 years as well as step dad. You are so fortunate to be able to share this with your Dad. I can tell that he is very proud of the outdoors-man that you have become. Incredible clip LFG. Thanks so much for sharing!

I’ve been asking him for probably 12 years to go hunting with me and he talks it up like he wants to go but never does he used to hunt when he was younger but never taught us. I give up on trying to get family to teach me. Next year I’m planning on learning to hunt on my own. I was planning on learning myself this year but Utah cancelled hunter safety classes because of the virus.

You know it’s not really that hard, where I live you only need to get a wild life resource car so you can get a tag and a firearms license. If you’ve got the money you can get on a guided tour. If not you really should try to find someone at least a little knowledgeable to go out with you on public land. Doesn’t cost much at all to do it that way.

Thanks for the great video! Just shared it with my dad and I'm in the same boat. I have tried for years to set him up on a buck with no success yet in Michigan where we live. Just got back 2 weekends ago from up north and got his stand setup. Will see how this year goes LOL. He is 78 and did the same thing your dad did for you by getting me evolved in deer hunting but sometimes I think he really probably lets them walk. I do not think he has the will to shoot one because they are a really cool animal (HE HAS NEVER SHOT ONE). I say to each as own and I just love the time we spend hunting. He started me at 15 years old and I'm a 55 years old that feels like 30. I have shot a lot of deer with the gun you inherited and they are a tack driver just shoot it to kill deer not target practicing with it. Many people hate that gun but I like mine. I have my 742 Rem. in a 280 Caliber and its from the 60s. Good luck the rest of the season and keep up your great content.

Used to go hunting with my father when I was really little (around 6-7ish) back in Mexico when we'd visit family- and have really great memories of his marksmanship.. but how life takes wild turns, he and my mom ended up separating and we never went back to Mexico together again much less went hunting. I would always ask him to go hunting or fishing with me, but he didn't want to leave the house much and would tell me "that time's past. I'm too old to go hunting" or some variation of that.. He would say the same thing for 20+ years up until just last year when he passed away at 80yrs old. And sadly I have to look back on 40 year old memories of those good times. But gotta tell you it's really good to see you and your Dad having this moment and I'm really glad you could share it with us. 🤠👍

I'm happy he got his buck and you got to go hunting with him. All I can say is cherish this and these future moments. My father past away unexpectedly this year and it'll be the first time in 15 years (before I could even hunt myself) that I'll be going hunting without him. Make the most of your time with him and enjoy every moment cause you never know when it may be the last time.

I have to be honest. I hunted with my father when I was younger but never for deer. We went for Bear,Bobcat,Racoons, and Lions. This looks like it is a great bonding time with your father and I am sure you will use this same activity with your children. Love this LFG! keep it up :)

Something I'll never be able to do. Lost my dad when I was 4.5. Be blessed to have your father still. I can't wait for my daughters and son to hunt and harvest their first animal.

One of your best episodes Justin. As a kid you have no idea about the sacrifices your parents make for their family and children. Then you become an adult and start your own family and you realize what they did and gave up. You see all of that in this video. And while i dont necessarily agree with shooting a deer in a pen under a feeder, I cant say I wouldnt do the same thing with my dad to get his first buck, and be the one that helped him get it. Awesome job all around.

I stumbled upon this video after watching one from the Hunting Public. This is one of the best videos I've seen in a while and there is some great stuff out there. Congratulations to your father. I just took a deer with my grandfather's 30-06 my uncle gave me earlier in the year. He was like your dad. He focused on getting my uncles outdoors and spending time with them so he actually never killed a deer through out the years. So that was the first deer taken with that rifle and I almost cried after I soaked in the moment. The beauty of it is my daughter was with me and that rifle will now be handed down to her. Making memories is what I love most about hunting. You have a new subscriber by the way!

There is absolutely nothing better than going out with your dad on a hunt. For me and my dad it was horse back riding. We went everywhere together on horse back...in So. Cal of all places. Enjoy every moment and I commend you.

The Ole' Remington model 742 Woodsmaster is a true legend of its time and is still plenty accurate enough for Big game hunting! My Dad has one from 1978 that he bought new and is probably the cleanest 742 I've ever seen, he took care of it no doubt. Thanks for sharing and Congrats to LFD!
