It's a classic, just not a car.

my mom totaled my 06 Mini Cooper s (she's fine) after borrowing it for the day. My dad gave me his 1991 Toyota pickup single cab 4x4 that was just sitting in the driveway. been slowly making it prettier and always get a thumbs up when I go ski. and he just refurbished his '85 Carrera 3.2 so best of both worlds!

The thought has crossed my mind, but then it wouldn't really be the truck my dad drove.

Bought an 89 new, 4 cylinder 5 speed. Didn’t hardcore off-road it but explored a lot of dirt roads and hauled many, many loads of firewood. Sold it to a friend 17 years later with 250,000 miles. Normal maintenance and two starters & a clutch. Paint was still good, no seat tears. That was one of my most stupid things I have ever done.

Too bad Toyota doesn't still make anything this awesome.

Reminds me of the 70 series that we have in Australia. Don't build them like they used to. ❤

Seems like the perfect car for your continent.

Great video. We have a 1994 4x4 Pickup we love in a similar fashion. As a chronic car nut who has been lucky to have some wonderful classics these trucks have the same iconic quality of air cooled 911s, Piper Super Cubs or even Honda CT Trail bikes. Elegantly functional honest designs that somehow dodged dilution by committee - they are also a hoot to drive, handsome to look at and know the way to the dump by heart!

Love it! I wouldn't trade my old Yota for anything they make now? How about you?
@Mike_PSU_MSW3 ай бұрын
@@carsunknown Agreed. There is nothing on the market that checks the same boxes even without the classic car vibe. If Toyota brings the rumored Stout back I might trade but ours only had 125k on it. You can still find them in Eastern Oregon & Washington.

I remember back in the early 90's when these trucks came out, my dad (Salvadoran Immigrant) had a brand new 1990 Yota 4x4 single cab like this one but in Silver color, and all the Pro-American Truck guys would hate on him saying "Why'd You Buy That Japanese import POS for when you could've bought a Real American Truck" they were not popular back then, I'm surprised at how many "Pro-American" dudes own them nowadays, now they're cool to have
