LOVED this video - I got some good ideas! A quick note about your noun/verb activity; Many devices color-code the vocabulary. The most common color coding is the “Modified Fitzgerald Key” - with this verbs are green and nouns are orange. Your students with AAC may already see their vocab sorted in those colors, so circling in those colors might be helpful!

Your videos are so helpful and I just want to say thank you! I've taught a self-contained class at the high school level for most of my 17 years of teaching but this year I'm moving to an elementary class and need to change my mindset for the age change. You have been amazingly helpful in this process.

Loved this video! I have been a substitute teacher in classrooms with a slideshow like this and it makes live SO SO SO much better. Otherwise there is no way for me to know the routines and expectations for the class. It allows me to focus more on the students in the moment and less on wondering what I should do next with them.

This was so helpful and organized. I’m still in school for special education and throughout student teaching I’ve always seen teachers fiddling through multiple slides but I love how everything is on one slide throughout the day and the visuals are excellent.

I love your schedule. One question is how do you schedule students that are going to inclusion. I have students who miss out on Iep goals or academic content because they are in inclusion and I feel like I am always playing catch up. For instance, my inclusion students go out from 9: 20 - 10: 50 for inclusion then they come back around 12: 50 to the end of the day which ends at 3: 00 . So in the morning I try to work on iep goals with my morning students, then in the afternoon I have a phonic block at 1:00 to 1: 30, then ULS from 1: 40 - 2:00 . Then 2: 00 we back into small groups so students that were in inclusion would work on their iep goals The problem is my students are not independent, accept the ones that are pushed out into inclusion. So my students that already had IEP goals in the morning are put back into an IEP group with the students that were included. I hope that I am making sense. When your students do their iep goals are they in groups with students with similar goals?

Have you ever been an academic support teacher? If so can you explain the difference between teaching that and self contained? I want my own classroom but I know nowadays especially in my district how they are much different than they were years ago
@thatspecialeducator10612 жыл бұрын
I haven't. But I know that there are many blog posts about the difference between the different special education classroom settings.

Not related to this video but what is your opinion on chasing students that are running? I have heard from one teacher she does not chase and I have heard from another teacher that if they are younger than 6th grade you probably should follow them for safety reasons. I work with younger kids so I'm not sure what to do
