Blood type should have matched the father but the Doctor said no match for either. Someone screwed up somewhere.

Our blood type has two parts. The mother and father each contribute one part. Sometime that can make the blood type not match. Being that the mother was someone else, the chance of no match is more likely. If the wrong mother had AO blood and the father had AA blood then the blood would match both parents ( AA, AO both are type A blood. But if the real mother is BO the possibilities are (AB. AO neither parent can give to the AB but the dad could give to the AO) It depends on how the Genes are combined 1mom and 1 dad everytime but since each have two and only give one, the combinations can vary. There is also an rh factor that can vary. The parent can either have a positive or negative rh factor. If the mother has a different rh factor from her child, there is potential danger. The mother’s body might reject the child. The mother needs to be monitored during her pregnancy.

Curious--does @vickimendoza6488 have any professional medical training? Most of the statements appear to match contents of Dr. Karl Landsteiner's monographs on blood typing and cross-matching, but they make little sense to medical lay-people.

This is screwed up. The girls had the same father so they should have the same blood type as the father even though they had different mothers. It was the mother’s blood type that should not have matched not both. They need to do better investigations when researching for stories but I enjoyed the story.
