actually like Bowie he's replicating the Scott walker version and it's quite good. But it's not Brel's triumphant ravellian manic march.

I agree that he butchered it in comparison to Jack L's stellar version, but I thought the stuff Friday did with Duke Special was decent, and there were a couple of other weak links that night. Camille O'Sullivan I think her name was? That song that she and Duke managed to giggle their way through was just dire.

He killed this song. Jack L's version is far superior. Friday was the only weak link in a great night.

Ah no, don't get me wrong, she's a great singer and fantastic preformer, no doubt about it, but with no rehersal and both of them sounding a little tipsy the song was something of a train wreck. Which is a shame, because with a little bit of work it could have been one of the highlights of the night.
