I think that AI self steering with dedicated front camera monitor with emergency alerts like if you're close to some object would be great. If the first self-driving vehicle experiment called Navlab 1 from 1986 was able to drive roughly as fast as your desk, it should be possible to make something similar but better with today's computing power. It would not be a Tesla but still more than good enough.

Your quote about leapfrogging between each oasis of opportunity really resonated with me. I always find im super productive when I plop down with my laptop in an unfamiliar place. Something about the new ambiance distracts the parts of my brain that usually pull me out of flow and leaves the creative parts of my brain do their best work, and this desk is such an interesting evolution of that.

Instead of a standing desk, use one of those lay down bikes. It’ll help with stability as it’s closer to the ground. To make sure you don’t go too fast, change the gearing to give you much higher torque and less speed. If you wanna get really crazy, have the work station inside of cradle that auto levels to make sure you can go up hills without your drink falling over. Imagine going up a hill at 25 degrees and feeling like you’re on a level surface.
