It may seem hard to believe, but Jaws, Steven Spielberg’s 2002 summer blockbuster about a vicious shark preying on beachgoers in a New England seaside town was released with a PG-13 rating. Between the violent attacks sequences, that terrifying and grotesque visual of Ben Gardner’s corpse (missing eye and all), and some truly frightening moments, this would absolutely be an R movie by today’s standards.

I remember my mom first let me watch a Rated R movie when I was 14, which was the movie "Bringing Down the House" and I had gone with my brother in 2002 to see the PG-13 rated "Lilo & Stitch" and wondering "Wait, these 2 movies is both have 11 uses of the f-word, so why are they 2 different ratings?"

I remember my mom first let me watch a Rated NC-17 movie when I was 18, which was the movie "Orgazmo" and I had gone with my brother in 1995 to see the R rated "Toy Story" and wondering "Wait, the amount of sexual content and dialogue in these 2 movies is the same, so why are they 2 different ratings?"

If Mickey's Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse had 10-12 F-words it would've been PG-13 for strong language, although I'm guessing because 4+ movies are so childish that it would be irresponsible to give it an R rating for language.
