I'm running my Gopro Hero 8 via media server stream to the laptop & streaming it to VLC over streaming network then into OBS... I just started DJing at home, and I've been working on setting up a live stream. I totally agree that you have to have two computers! This video was very helpful. I've been working for hours to get the audio just right. I also have the a Scarlett (2i2) that I picked up today and it works great! Thank's for a very detailed video.

Thanks for sharing brother... Which Scarlett (looking for the cheapest option) do I need to run from the Scarlett into a MacPro USB? My setup currently is the DDJ-1000SRT to an irig Pro into my MacPro (garbage can) and video from an A7III directly into the MacPro using the Sony Edge Imaging software inside OBS. I'm looking to possibly return the irig Pro (pretty pricey) and go with the Scarlett interface as I feel it may get better use in the long run.

Hi Dj Barr! I have my cannon camera doing remote shooting, and I am using OBS but I am getting a delay with the video. What settings did you use with OBS because I want to use your settings because your video is so crisp and clear?

Elagato Camlink 4 or 4k well recommended if want to use your DSLR or GOPRO cam as a webcam . Once in a while I would record a session produce it in premier then broadcast it as"live" then moderate the chat room. Some my clients think I am live . I do this for marketing purposes.

I only started new years eve so im new at this game but I use my built in camera on my iMac for video and for audio I use an external sound board that has USB on it so i can get audio to my video and live stream direct to youtube and for recording i use a secondary sound board meaning I have to double up the connections to it then USB that to my second backup MacBook pro and DJ off of my Main MacBook pro not only that I send audio to my amp rack and monitor speakers from my first sound board so i can hear what I play

My setup I kept it simple: Hooked up DJ mixer to an iRig Stream ($99), two Logitech webcams and use the OBS hooked to another Mac Pro. Most times I just go the D-Nice route and go from my iRig Stream straight to my iPhone or IPad when out of the blue I want to do a quick mix. Everything set up already, its just plugging the iPhone/iPad then bam you're live.

i have the irig stream hooked up to my mounted ipad and thats it. the audio matches with the video perfectly. the video is being streamed from my ipad. if i had a second computer i would consider using multiple cameras but like you said i am not going to overload my computer running multiple programs at once.

I’m using a Pioneer Ddj sz connected from the booth outputs to a Behringer Xenyx QX1202USB then my Behringer Xenyx to my i7 Dell Pc laptop through usb and two Logitech webcams. But I can’t seem to get my audio from my DDj SZ to my PC using OBS? Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

I use Xsplit and Logitech 920 and my note 8 as a second webcam. I use iRig or my Behringer usb mixing board. At the moment 2 laptops but will start using one my new HP Spectre soon. Working on getting lighting next

hi barr, I know this is now 5 months since you posted this and mixcloud and other things have changed but never had any issues with obs and my early days i did use and audio card as i was running traktor and no built in soundcard in my mixer and i used traktor audio 6. and running a twin rca to single into mic input on my desktop which run obs. but ever since i bought my djm 850 i just came out of record out had good quality sound and also my traktor s4 mk3 with built in sound card is great as well so no need for an additional sound card. you don't need obs to recognize your controller you just have to have obs to use mic input on the computer obs is running on. and i just use Logitech c920 web cam and its fine but just remember to turn your mic off on the web cam as 1 time i forgot and i just streamed a hour of distortion lol. so any thing with built in sound card is great. and now for mixcloud any live stream you do it automatically records your audio and you can chose to post it and that save so much time converting wav to 320 bit audio and then upload. but i do recommend to still record your sets just incase. by the way great videos you do and ive been djing on and off for 25 years but never as a mobile dj and this year i have been building up my dj gear to getting ready to start up my mobile djing business and been watching you great videos for lots of tips. so great job barr. look forward to seeing more.

I just use my Yamaha MG06 mixer. I run the audio out from 1 of my speakers and into the mixer. Then use a quarter inch to 3.5 cable and run it into the mic input of my desktop PC. My motherboard has a line in feature so its just a straight audio in.

I basically have the same set up. I either use an MBox Pro, or a Mackie Mixer with a USB port, or the iRig stream. Hey I'm audio engineer! OBS is very clunky. I only need it for KZbin Live. For video I use an external webcam or a Sony firewire camcorder. Yep FireWire! I save the live, extract the audio in Pro Tools, then master the mix with a limiter, maybe some EQ, before uploading to Mix Cloud.

What’s interesting is you’re using the interface however you should be able to select your SRT’s audio card in OBS. My SR2 & Mixars Primo both require no interface. I just select the audio cards as my audio device. However i have heard some users still need an interface.

Elgato camlinks, rca>3.5mm into computer aux, adjust latency in obs and you're good to go. No audio interface needed.

Help!!! I cant get set up the two laptops and the scarlette 2!2 to work!!!! Macbook pro amd usb to a pioneer deck...from there im going to a scarlette. From scarlette to a acer nitro 5, windows, to obs...i can never get a sound from the pioneer deck to play on OBS!

Hm, OBS never crashed on me, and I'm using Windows. Might be a combination of things like settings and encoders etc. I'm using an older PC but it's still a beast. i7 5820K (6 cores, 12 threads, overclocked to 4.1Ghz ) processor, 32GB Ram and a GTX 1080 graphics card that handles the encoding of video etc. Next to the video I also run VSXu Player to have live audio visualisers in my stream. Really looks cool. For your camera, you should invest in a HDMI capture card. (although with all the DJ's and gamers stuck at home they have a major increase in price lately) Or with Canon cameras you can use their new Virtual webcam utility with less delay. I'm just using a Logitech C920 webcam that looks OK when you tinker with the settings and add a good amount of lights. And I'm using an old Nexus 5 smartphone on a tripod as a secondary cam. It has a bit of a delay, but the framerate is smooth and image quality good enough. Next to that I also capture the DJ Laptop's screen using NDI Scan Converter to include the decks into the video. The sound of my DJ setup comes through an older Native Instruments Audio 8. It gave me problems to use as my main soundcard, but it works reliable when I only use it to record. I don't stream a lot. I'm more interested in the production side of things, thinkering with the setup, rather than actually doing it lol. My stream would look great, should I actually did it. You're totally right about the copyright issues. I've seen a lot of stupid shouting in that regard.

You don’t need an interface when you already have a controller board . You can get the audio out from settings straight into OBS or Ecamm. FYI I use Ecamm and gives you options . They do charge and is not free.

Where I can hear this stream ? :) you put them on KZbin? Preetty the same setup like you. Denon prime4 to The focusrite scarlet 4i4 3rd gen, camera is a 4k but i use a 1080p 30fps. Obs i set to 4000 kbs, Sound to 320 kbs 48 kHz and I use a new nvidia codec to obs not this x264. If u want I can make a picture of my setup. Evrything works fine to mee. I definitely 2nd the use of 2 computers to either record / stream a dj set. My setup consists of 2 computers. One laptop running Rekordbox DJ and OBS (with NDI). I take the video out via NDI and inject that into the 2nd computer that handles the audio from the mixer (via the USB audio interface), video from the webcam (C920) and the NDI feed from the laptop. I crop the video from the laptop to show only the waveforms at the top as the music plays. And yes, audio is VERY important. I STRONGLY discourage use of motherboard / computer audio and instead use an interface (Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 in my case.). Any time you just use the line / mic input on your computer, you run the risk of increased noise, spurious noises, distortion, and whatnot. Insides of computers are VERY noisy with RF bouncing all around and whatnot. And like a few others here, I'm also on Mixcloud (mostly old mixes there) and I have a couple dozen mixes here on YT on my channel.

my setup is the same but not. i use 2 technics 1200's with pioneer S9, AudioTechnica Condensor Mic connected to my MackieProFX12 that has USB as my soundcard, Logitec 960 (something) all connected to a Windows machine i5 2.5ghz processor with 16GB of ram. super solid machine running my sam broadcaster for my internet radio station (WLAT FIYAH FM) that you can find on the TuneIn app and using OBS to stream on twitch (djlatinman) but have been streaming to FB for years. I'm in the process of rebuilding my studio to a more modern look.

I use Traktor 3 and OBS on the same old 2012 MacBook. You DO NOT need second pc at all. You also don't need a 8i6, just a 2i2 is awesome already. Bad content here, never coming back.

Macs aren’t optimal for running OBS. Especially since it’s still in Beta. OBS was and is most efficient used on a PC with the right specs.

Well if you use a clap or somthing you ca nsync it and it should not be a problem with sound and picture. A expensive computer dont say it's a good computer why do people belive that? And as some one else says rund OBS as Admin(maybe you cant do that onm mac) If you try to stream higher then your computer can handle it will lagging too. There is lot's of videos on youtube on how to set OBS up.

I jerry rigged the hell out of my livestream lol...Audio i had running into a focusrite scarlett 2i2...video though i only have laptops...so i had to use both webcams, I was streaming from the one i set on a monitor, with the webcam pointed down at my MC7000....running OBS, the one I had running serato I installed a DNI plugin through OBS which allowed me to use the webcam from the Serato laptop as a remote webcam, so i had a shot of my face, and my controller....looked ok for being two laptops lmao...audio was good at least!

Tony Lackie hey man are you able to equalizer the audio going to from the Scarlett box to computer via software? My DJ’s live-streams audio is really shrill and lacks bass and warmth. Sounds like the speaker is underwater... I’m using a djm s9 via a iPhone 3 ring wire to my MacBook via OBS

Thats overkill. You would have had the same 350 viewers with a lot less work. A good cell phone camera, good lighting and clean audio (with an attenuator). All the other stuff is great eye candy but its not going to be what keeps the viewers tuned in. Your fans are going to support you... Have you ever seen Alex Sensation's streams on IG? I saw his #'s hit 10000+ and his set up is so basic. If the music is enjoyable and you get on the mic and keep them entertained thats all you need.

lol OBS works much better on PC, they even have stream labs (many more features etc.) the mac support is not very good though, I've had better luck with stream labs (which again is an obs platform)

@@BayardoRugama Yea I had the same issue. I couldn't stand the lag using the remote software. Ended up getting lucky by randomly checking Best Buy and they restocked... needless to say that restock didn't even last a day. But any capture card should do the trick as long as it's compatible with your cam.

You have to use a third party app called yellow duck. It will setup a stream key for you to use with instagram

OBS sucks on OSX. Much better if using windows system. I use it on my mac too. Much better when i used the windows desktop.
