I usually have to wait for her to say the dog’s name. Their barks are quite different though. Usually Todd’s bark is a little sharper while Tucker’s is more of a soft, classic “woof”. 💜

Goldens can jump surprisingly high, when they want to. Mine loves to jump, and he will easily jump 1½ times his own height, as long as it's onto a surface.

Laughing and smiling like a proud dog mom here! This was so fun and both knew their limits. The paw move by Tucker..outstanding! I don’t think my 1 yr. Old could do more than 2..he is not a jumper. My 8yr. Old might match Tucker..she is pretty agile. Love it!

For those of us in competitive Obedience, here’s a couple suggestions for the next time you might want to play the jump game indoors. 1) Make sure to have a surface with good grip for both the takeoff AND landing zones, at least 8ft before and 8ft after the landing. Most folks train dogs to jump on ribbed rubber mats that cover concrete; the mats are for preventing injuries from slipping on both takeoffs and landings. 2) Nearly all breeds of dogs are required by the Regulations, to jump their shoulder heights. For Golden Retrievers, that normally ranges from 20 - 24” tall. However, when competitive Obedience was first introduced, dogs jumped 1.5 times their shoulder height, meaning a big Golden would be jumping 36” tall! 3) Before asking dogs to jump, it’s a good idea to check the bottoms of their feet. Any hair that covers over their pads, should be trimmed - and nails shouldn’t make any clicking noises at all when walking on hard surfaces. Long nails and extra floofy toe hair can cause accidents and slipping on both takeoffs and landing. 4) Dogs need to warm up for jumping, again for safety. It doesn’t hurt to have them stretch out both before and after a jumping session. This was a fun indoor game - a great thing to do on a rainy, yucky or cold day…. or on a super steamy hot and humid day, too. Thanks for sharing!
