I see how wonderful and attentive they are with the baby and I am so sad I did not have dogs, or cats, when my boys were babies. I did finally get dogs when their father died, they were young, and these dogs have been a God-send. They have brought so much joy and happiness, and they give us so much love. And they definitely help with depression... They still do. ~❣️

I can say that (major depression disorder, Bipolar 1. I'm an expert depressive) without my husky (🌈🌉) Kieto, Malamute Akira and GSD X King Shep Odin. I'd be dead. Hanging from a tree most likely 7 years of treatment resistant depression...my pack saved me. Multiple times. Aki can sense the depression in me and will Hug me tightly. She even licks the tears away.

Dogs are pack animals. When their pack leader (human) has a baby, they want to protect that baby because it is the most vulnerable and weakest of the pack. My old dogs were the same way when my little sister was born.

My mom was surprised how good my dog was with my sister’s daughter when her husband and her lived with us up until recently. I had to explain the whole dog pack mentality bit. In addition it was a way to explain to her why our dog is always excited to see my mom come down the stairs, she is her alpha or one of them.

They are such good protectors, of children and babies. You never have to fear any malamute hurting your children, or new borns. They are as protective as a mama bear to her cubs!! My service dog a fiesta/chihuahua is always protecting the new born family members, like my nieces and nephews! Its starts the day you bring a baby home. They instinctivley take on a mom dad roll.
