Awesome setup, Nas! I can't wait to see it in action and how it's fully mounted on the trailer bouncing on trails. Cool toy 🤙🏼

Congratulations. Good setup for fishing. I have the Hobie Mirage Tandem Island. Its the same colour as yours - Ivory Dune. The "MirageDrive" as what Hobie calls their propulsion system is truly ingenious. But I got mine more for sailing, than fishing. I'm not much of a fisherman, I'm afraid. So once I'm clear from shore, I simply lock the MirageDrive at the up position and unfurl the sail. Woohoo! 😁 As for suggestions. Here are some that comes to mind: - Could be personal preference, but consider swapping the ropes you plan to use to flip back-up the kayak in an event of capsizing, to straps. Straps are easier on the hands and easier to hold that ropes when wet. You can get long straps from Bunnings. - Have a strap/rope tied on each side (not just one), and position each as close to the centre of the kayak (front to back) as you can. - Wear grippy aqua shoes. To avoid sunburn on your feet, but also to helps with gripping the haul of the kayak when trying to flipping it back-up. - It depends how long you plan to fish on your kayak at a time, but I recommend you use the esky behind the seat for food & drinks instead (just add some ice or freeze blocks). And just use the big bag you have strapped at the front as your fish bag. - Bring a chopping board. Don't use the hatch cover as a chopping board like many do. - Finally, do a flip test. Check to make sure nothing will fall out or detach from your kayak if you capsize. Safe boating and all the best with fishing. Looking forward to seeing an episode of you on "The Boat". 👍

Cheers mate. Some great tips. I do have some strapping at home somewhere I can swap it too. Been looking at some options for bait boards as well. Was just going to wait and see how I go for space.

@@NasTimeAdventures No worries. 👌 I'm not sure if your depth sounder has GPS, but it's good to have one on board. I have the rugged and waterproof handheld Garmin GPS eTrex 32x mounted on a RAM mount. I use it for setting waypoints, ETA, distance to destination, distance travelled, speedo etc. It's essentially my dashboard when sailing. And if you plan to fish far offshore in the open ocean, or fish in remote secluded areas, I also recommend putting together a survival go bag/emergency grab bag. I just use a dry bag, and in it is a GME PLB, First-Aid kit, water, muesli bars, multi-tool, pocket knife, match/lighter, flint & steel, glow sticks, hand torch/head torch, compass, whistle, disposable raincoat, ultra-sil folding bucket (10L capacity but fold to a size of a small mandarin), paracord, LifeStraw, hat/beanie, gloves, wire saw, and I also have the Bob Cooper Help Survival Blanket (can be used for as an emergency shelter, blanket, and a huge hi-vis help flag/mat).

@@fatmanoverlanding I too have a Hobie Mirage Tandem Island, in the same colour. 😁 I've had mine for 12 years and still going strong. I have a short clip of it on my YoutTube channel sailing at Port Stephens that I posted 11 years ago. The clip is just at the beginning of the trip. I was heading to Broughton Island from Nelson Bay (about 20kms distance one-way) for a couplle of days camping. I had to do a short detour to Jimmy's beach first to meet a couple of friends who are joining me, but are setting off from there (approx 8kms one-way), also on a Tandem lsland. I actually met them because of the Tandem Island, and we've since become good friends.

Wow!! What a rig! That’s definitely a Metime/Nastime adventure. Is it something you'll adventure in the bay or primarily river fishing? Great review mate :)

The long handle nets are definitely better in my experience (10 years) I ditched the short net, landing fish in the Kayak is much easier with the longer, larger net.

Cheers. I'm thinking that but I'll give this a go at least while I have it. At least get a feel for how big I need it.

Nas, the longer net is an advantage in not having to reach as far over the side of the yak
