My mother is an addict. I tell people that my childhood was something out of a Stephen king book. Thank you for making videos.

I'm sorry you've had these experiences, too. Not the best way to grow up.

Hi Autumn, I work in social services, and unfortunately, your story is so real for many kids, or at least a similiar version of it. Some people shouldn't be parents. My father wasn't a drug addict, that I know of, but he was a mean SOB who beat my mom and didn't contribute anything to our lives. When he left, finally, his family took back everything they ever gave me. I remember a custom bookshelf that had rabbits on either end. I remember watching it get put in a truck and driven away. My mom rrmarried a wonderful man when I was 10. She passed away last year, and now it's just me and my dad, who was more of a real dad than my bio dad ever was. Anyway, you seem to be a lovely person. Good for you for making something of yourself.

What an awful thing to take gifts back from a child! I'm sorry you had to deal with all this but glad your mom found a good guy

Hey, I came here from your last video. a few handbag lover here!! My mum was an alcoholic and I can empathise a lot with your story. We would find empty bottles, tell her we knew she had drunk it and then she’d get very drunk defensive and lie about it. I’ve watched your videos for a while and it’s nice to know that others have gone through the same thing x

He pawned your camera, how sad and pathetic. Even worse he tried to gaslight you about it. Also I love the bird sounds.

I am just watching this by coincidence. We have a ton in common. Even now, as I am also a teacher. Please do not think I am a YT nitwit being awful. However, I must say, this video made me so angry! I just don’t understand how your mother let him stick around, especially because he was not adding anything meaningful to your lives! WTF! I know you explained, but this made me so sad. Naturally, it’s reminding me of my own childhood, so that is probably why I feel like slapping someone. Anyway, I am glad you are leading a better life. I truly believe situations like these help define us and as a result, those that are able to walk away develop grit. This was very brave of you to share. Thank you!

I’m 23 years old and my ex step-dad was addicted to marijuana. He would smoke joints like cigarettes. He would go on and off smoking and when he went off, it was horrendous. I’ve known him since I was 6 and last summer, he kicked me out resulting in me losing my job and then a divorce. I hope I can be in a good place one day like you.

Just wanted to add...that ice cream. My husband at one time had like 11 containers or possibly more in the freezer...he would eat a lot. A LOT! I don't think I ever even tried it. I cannot fathom some of this stuff...like not having electric....

That would have been my dad if we could have afforded it.
