You are very very wonderful and I love your work very much. Please, make us a triple mixture of the following acids: salicylic acid, glycolic, glycolic acid, lactic acid, to exfoliate the knees, elbows and body without causing the skin. Thank you

I have to admit I thought you could just put a bit of salicylic acid powder in any carrier oil…and I can afford to buy a commercial formulation, but it’s the packaging you have to buy with it over and over. Thank you for this video 🤗

Today I made this serum and it is wonderful! Thank you! And then I was thinking od adding a little bit of blue tansy oil just for the color, but then no, it is good as it is and I dont know how.the oil will go with salicylic... I love formulating and watching videos how to formulate! Thnx again! All.the best!

There's also squalane derived from bioengineered yeast that've been fed sugarcane. That's probably cheaper these days, and is chemically identical to squalane from olives.

Thank you for making DIYing so easy for home use, I'm no longer reluctant to touch certain formulas without having a pH meter at this time. It's thanks to formulas like this one & the simple vitamin C serum that I can now safely incorporate salicylic acid, niacinamide, & vitamin C in my DIY & my routine without purchasing special equipment. I can't tell you how awesome that is As a riff on this formula & another one, I wanted to see if I could use Cromollient SCE to solubilize salicylic acid, but I can't seem to find data on how much I would need. Does anyone know where I could find out?
@mokshalani8414 Жыл бұрын
I just realized Cromollient SCE is recommended as a solubilizer for fragrances & such, not necessarily more stubborn ingredients. I guess I'll just stick with the octyldodecanol & use the Cromollient SCE for another function in this formula (luxurious feeling rinse off)

Can we add other powders in? Such as maybe chamomile powder or maybe even clays?

I would not add anything that won't dissolve in the base; both of the options you've mentioned are insoluble and would settle out + be gritty :(

Any one in Australia know where we can obtain octyldodecanol? I've had a good look but can't find it here and Marie recommends not to substitute it.
@joy50162 жыл бұрын
I wonder if you can’t substitute it with propanediol 1.3 or methylpropanediol. These two ingredients also solubise salicylic acid. But then it wouldn’t be this serum cause this one is an “oil” serum
@HumblebeeAndMe2 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid I don't know of anywhere, Phat Wombat. @Joy: Compare solubilities + ability to solubilize to see why you can't :)

@marciamarcia74492 жыл бұрын
So there is nothing in which this dissolves 100%? I would love to use this as a chemical scalp exfoliation.
@HumblebeeAndMe2 жыл бұрын
Nothing I've found that's suitable for cosmetics, no-but you don't need a 100% solvent to work with salicylic acid, especially with a maximum usage of 2% :)
@fareloz Жыл бұрын
It very soluble in pure propylene glycol - 25g in 100ml. And also pure ethanol - 20g in 100ml. But if you add water - the solubility dramatically decreases. Example: 100ml mixture of PG and water (1:1 ratio) dissolves only 2% acid. So I guess for your scalp exfoliation you can take pure propylene glycol and dissolve salicylic acid in it. You don't even need a preservative since no water is used. Note: the maximum usage in skincare is 2% according to FDA. More - the product considered as a drug. (For myself I use not more than 2% in leave-on formulas and no more than 5% in wash-off formulas)
@marciamarcia7449 Жыл бұрын
@@fareloz thank you. I may try ethanol.
