Bunnies are NOT Low commitment, don’t bother. Cats , sure. Don’t subject another rabbit to a life in a small cage.

I second this. I’ve had 3 in my life and I’m starting my family now and it doesn’t seem to be a great mix right now since I can’t give my bun the socialization she needs (and she hates other bunnies lol)

I would say as someone who used to breed rabbits, rabbits aren’t really a suitable pet for very young children, unless they are always supervised while with the rabbit. A lot of rabbits HATE being held, or bite if not properly socialized. They are also very fragile depending on the breed. One drop from a child could break their poor legs and they would need to be put to sleep😢 I’ve seen it happen and it’s very sad for the kids. Also, if you are planning to keep them outdoors such as in a garage or shed, they are very high maintenance in the winter and summer, especially in Minnesota where I’m from. They also can’t live together in the same room/enclosure unless they are fixed, or they will breed/fight. Just some things I learned along my rabbit journey :) Also, thank you for being so open in this video ❤️

Let me tell you right now as someone who has two rabbits that are litter trained, rabbits are NOT low maintenance. Especially not around little kids. They are too big of an animal to be kept in a cage. They need a space that is their own. Like an entire room that is their own

My first bunny escaped and got eaten by a fox and the second one was re-homed because he chewed through the sky cable so many times my Mum eventually snapped. Bunny's are troublesome little creatures who really belong in the wild, they have far too much energy to be in a cage and are far too cheeky to allow in the house 🙈

Please note that NO ANIMAL is low maintenace. I have one hedhehog. Solitary animal, small... but no, she always has some issue, lost a toe bc a hair wrapped around it 🤯, vet bills, needs to play and move a lot, needs her peace and solitude wants entertainment, has a character, has likes and dislikes... same with bunnies. Please only get pets if you can give them all they need. They can't tell you if they are unhappy, you have know them to understand.

@@mori.kurogawa7936 💯 agree.,, as a veterinary technician and pet owner I don’t advise getting any animal, unless the person is 100% all in. They are another family member! And they are all high maintenance in one way or another.

I had a pretty bad eating disorder as a young girl/teen and it was greatly amplified when I got pregnant. I totally agree with what you said about having a daughter and not wanting to have her go through the same thing. My 3rd is a girl and it completely changed my world and I started to really seek the Lord on how to work through my eating disorder. Thank you for sharing. It was really comforting to know I’m not the only one.

I relapsed in an eating disorder after having my first baby, a daughter. It took over my life for 3 years. I just had my 3rd baby and I am finally in a place where I feel like I am truly recovering, praise Jesus. Ladies, it’s not worth it. I was not truly present with my daughter, I did not take care of myself as much as I should have in my next pregnancy or postpartum. I was a shell of myself and a disconnected mother because of it. I cannot go back and redo the first year of my daughter’s life, the following pregnancy, and the following postpartum with two little ones. It took almost losing my third baby during a hemorrhage in pregnancy to focus on taking care of my body and building myself back up. Now I focus on nourishment and the mindset shift has worked wonders. I am able to talk to all 3 of my babies about nourishing strong, healthy bodies with gratitude to God. ❤ Focus on thankfulness, love, and nourishment!!!

Hi Delilah, I loved this video and your honesty. I am pregnant with my third child and very excited, but also nervous of how I will cope when baby is here. I feel myself losing patience with my two children often, and I do not ever want to be in a place of postpartum rage. Also, as busy parents of toddlers my husband and I are definitely experiencing the shift of intimate, close relationship to feeling more like roommates. We parent well together, work as a team, and are extremely committed to the covenant we made in marriage, but I am fearful of how the lack of romance and quality time (other than watching a show in exhaustion before bed) could lead to marital struggles over time. I do not want that to happen, but it almost feels awkward right now (also being pregnant is a whole other factor) to pursue closeness with him, like we're out of practice of dating. Hearing you speak about how the Lord worked in you to heal you of the anger you were feeling etc, I was encouraged and curious if there was any part of the Bible that specifically touched you? I know that I need to spend more time in the word and in prayer, but have not yet figured out how to make it happen more with life being so busy. When I do sit down to have quiet time I feel stressed that I the clock is ticking and what should I read to get the most out of the time. It becomes like homework instead of healing time with God. I also see your relationship with your husband and you guys just seem so cute haha! How do you pursue each other through the exhaustion of parenthood! How to keep the spark alive physically during seasons of zero desire 😅? Thank you for reading this! Blessings to you and your marriage and family :)

I’ve been following along with your channel since I was a freshman in college. During my last year of college, my eating disorder became severe. The thing that made me want to change was my desire to be a mother and to be a role model for my future children in the way I trust the lord with food and my body. I knew it would be so hard to be a momma and work through this mindset. I’m so amazed by you. This is so hard. I’m sure, even now, there are days that are miserable. I am so proud of you for surrendering this to God- for walking in love. I’m so amazed by you, sweet girl.

My biological mother was anorexic when I was growing up. She hardly ate anything ever, took lots of diet pills, drank Red Bulls and smoked lots of cigarettes. She stayed under 100 lbs till I was in my early 20’s. I am so thankful i did not internalize what I saw. I saw how it tore her apart mentally if she was close to 100. I never want to be in that position, not only for my own health but for the sake of my children. So thankful for the Lord guiding me through those early years and keeping me close to my dad as he raised us. She was absent most of my childhood and now we don’t have a relationship after lots of things came to light two years ago. She and I used to be very close, or as close as you can get to a covert narcissist. So thankful that the Lord put it on my to remove that relationship. My life has been so much better and more clear, drawing us closer to Him in many ways.

I agree with you on the Santa Claus topic. My husband and I don't practice any religion, however we have both expressed how the idea of the lie of Santa Claus doesn't really fit with the way we want to portray Christmas. I think Christmas can be what you make it, and excluding Santa Claus won't make it any less special. If you make it fun and special in your own way, then they won't feel like they are missing out. I also suspected from a very young age that Santa wasn't real, and played along until I was about 8 to please my parents.

My husband really wanted to do santa but I really didn't, unfortunately he won and now my son is 5 and is excited about santa but he also has a huge heart and I know when he finds out santa isn't real and we lied it will destroy him. So after years of thinking about it I decided to tell him santa is everyone not just one man, and now that you know you can be santa this year and have him buy some gifts for other kids.

I have a 3.5 yr old daughter. We finally moved to a place where we could get a pet and this is what i did. Im 40 and ive had every pet out there. Im autistic and animals have always been a special interest. I have rescued many in my life time. I currently manage the care of a small herd of miniature cows. They are not pets. I found an ad on craigslist for 2 adult cats that had been raised in a home w 2 kids. They needed to be rehomed because one of the kids needed kochlier implants and kept rejecting their tubes so the dr had them tezted for allergies and turns out they were allergic to cats. We got them because we knew they were good w young kids. Adult animals that are in need of homes are the way to go in my opinion. Pairs of siblings or other bonded pairs are great bevause you can give them the oppertunity to stay together instead of being adopted put seperately.

Thank you so much for being vulnerable in sharing things you never shared 🙏🏽🫶🏼 I was in middle school when I went through an eating disorder and it was really bad from 12 years old up until 15 years old. Then it from barely eating to over eating because I was pleasing others. Throughout my adult life, I do go through waves of it and it hit hard when I first got pregnant & worked at the place where it all started 😔 since then, God has truly been working on my mindset and how I view myself. I’ve definitely progressed and still need some work to do. Especially since all of our kids are little girls. It makes me want to cry and pray that they don’t go through what I did 🙏🏽 so I understand! Also, I LOVE the idea of making a birthday cake for Jesus on Christmas! I may do that with our girls 🥰

No pet is low maintenance. Rabbits are a lot of work, you’ll need to do lots of research on how to care for them, they also need an exotic vet as they need different vet care to a cat or dog. They also need a lot of space & a strict specific diet. As someone who’s owned rabbits my whole 22 years of life, they’re definitely not pets for children.

Re potty training... Have you heard of elimination communication? When you were describing the "non-negotiable times" they sit on the potty, and having to learn what it feels like in their body, that's exactly how we start with EC in the newborn period. When they are first born babies already know exactly when they need to go, if we encourage that in the beginning they never lose it and have to relearn later in toddlerhood, it has made things much easier and eliminated the tears and stress of toddler potty training that we experienced with our oldest. If you ever have any more babies :)

But once you have their set up perfect and they're super happy they're very sweet easy going pets. Make sure you research different breeds and you get the right breed of turtle for families. Also note that they live a very long time. I got a turtle at age 6 now I'm well into my twenties and my sweet turtle just turned 20 herself ❤. We had rabbits for a short while, they're wonderful but they need surprisingly a lot more space than you think.

I agree about cats getting weird with kids sometimes! You don’t want just any cat but one that will love the kids and the kids will love too. I think that if you pick out a kitten with your kids and it behaves well then it’s a great sign for how their temperament will be as a grown cat with kids. But I really don’t recommend getting an adult cat whose temperament is not treated with kids. Yikes.

Hi Delilah, Great Video. Im a Muslim from the UK and find it interesting how similar our values are. I thought what you said about Christmas and Halloween was so interesting and i didnt know some Christians held those views. I do find it strange that people celebrate Holidays that they dont understand the meanings of, or their origins. As Muslims we do believe in and love Jesus but we believe he was a Prophet of God like Moses, Abraham and Muhammad (peace be upon them all)❤

I don’t say this to try to change your mind at all but for what it’s worth: I used to feel weird about celebrating Halloween for a long time too and kind of shied away from it. However, I recently did some research about the origins of the holiday for a random work thing and now I understand it to be an ancient Celtic holiday. For me, I am Celtic by heritage and have always wanted to feel more connected to my ancestors. Now I celebrate certain parts of Halloween in order to do that. I definitely still stay away from the majority of it but I don’t feel so scared or angry about the holiday anymore. I know God rejoices when we connect with nature and with our ancestors. For me, Halloween has become that! All that to say: you can pick and choose how and what to celebrate with any holiday and Halloween is no different. Again, just my opinion and I don’t necessarily want to change your mind or anything. 💕

I wanted a home birth so badly! My husband put his foot down (that rarely happens). We found a hospital that was very intentional about being as natural as possible. Happy medium! I was stuck in early labor for 14 days, wouldn’t progress, needed to be induced, I dilated so quickly and was crowning within 2 pushes. Then stalled again. Took 51 hours after being induced to finally ended in a csection. Which breaks my heart, but I’m also so appreciative of my husband putting his foot down. My son was just way too big to fit. Those darn 99th percentiles …

How many weeks were you when you were stuck in labor? And how many weeks were you when you were induced?
@BrookeDoesScience
@BrookeDoesScience Ай бұрын
@@kayakalugin8644 I was exactly 37 weeks and they made me wait until 39 weeks to be induced since there was no fetal distress or maternal concerns. So in total, 17 days Edit: I kept telling them my entire pregnancy that my due date was 10 days off because I ovulated 10 days earlier than normal and they wouldn’t use that to change my due date from my last period date. So that is part of the equation as well. If my due date was in fact off by 10 days, I went into early labor at 38w3d and was induced after 40w. His growth scans were consistently 2 weeks ahead as well.

Hi there, nice to see you again and thank you for your video. If you decide to look for a cat in the future, go for a female brown Burmese, (make it brown one) they are quiet, cuddly and love love children. The best pets I've had over the years. A great companion for anyone struggling as they make fantastic therapy cats, their needs are small. Food, love and lots of cuddles.

Guinea pigs are a sweet and gentle, low maintenance pet. They love being pet and held and handled. MUCH EASIER than a pet bunny! I've had both as pets. Bunnies nip and bite when they go thru puberty as well and can get aggressive. If you want a bunny they really need to be spayed or neutered to prevent the aggression and urine marking.

Guinea pigs are obligate pack animals, so you should always adopt them in at least pairs. They can also be pretty high maintenance if you're cleaning their cage daily as you should

We have 2 bunnies that are loose in the backyard, they eat grass, veggies and fruit. It’s low maintenance for us ❤ we enjoy having them and when our kids go out to play we just keep an eye on them because bunnies are sensitive to noise and get startled easily. Overall, I would say they are easy pets ❤️🐰

Hi Delilah. Rabbits are not low commitment. I had one, and she was ALOT, go for a fish of a cat. Or even a dog. They are easier. My spaniel is easier than my rabbit was. Children are better with larger animals and not rodents. Love this video. But definitely put the research in when looking into pets.

Hi! You said to ask questions in the comments and I had one that I don't think you've answered...what did your first few years of being married young look like...money wise....family opinions...etc...I'm wanting to be married young and I'm interested in what you did.

I hope she answers your question more in depth but in case she doesn’t get to it, I remember from older videos that are now deleted that she worked in a bakery for a while and brought in income that way, I believe they started out in an apartment in parents’ home at first (I might be remembering that wrong, I know they had their own place before having eloise), and their family was very supportive and it’s normal among her friends and family to get married early. If I can give my advice as someone who got married at 22, SAVE YOUR MONEY LIKE CRAZY, especially if you don’t have family you could live with if something were to happen. Marriage itself is cheaper than living separately, but kids and houses and those things are expensive and financial preparation is important, although there are ways to make it work on little income! Be willing to work if needed even if your goal is to be a stay at home mom in order to set yourself up for that future success Edit to say when I say “if something were to happen” I mean like if one of you gets sick or injured or you are having financial difficulties or something. My husband and I moved in with my family because of a family tragedy, but if you don’t have that safety bet from family you have to create your own in times of emergency or unforeseen circumstances

Once your kids are a little older I would recommend guinea pigs. They still require a lot of space, but not as much as multiple rabbits. They like to hang out on people’s laps more. Just make sure nobody drops them, keep the same gender, vitamin C in their water, lots of Timothy hay, and no hamster balls or wheels for them, their backs are not flexible.

I've always been curious if your faith or church does acts of service for the underserved in your community and what that looks like. Also curious if the children have interest in exposure to other peoples and cultures (ie indigenous tribes of Canada, people from other countries) and if missionary work or travel abroad is ever something you all would be interested in.

How do you keep your kids entertained without any screens? My son gets bored so so easily. I feel like I would need so many toys to keep him busy with zero screen time.

Sometimes too much toys can be overwhelming and kids don't know what to do or what toy to play with. From very early on I let my baby play by himself and then walk away to do some dishes or something. Sometimes he doesn't play with toys at all but he's very happy to crawl around, discover the curtains, discover drawers, discover chairs.. let them explore and do their thing 😊

Also I will not introduce screen time until he is a few years old so he can't ask for it because he doesn't know it's there 🤷‍♀️

Boys need a lot of outside time and creative energy time! But kids need to be bored and encouraged to find something to do quietly by themselves!!!! Kids are to entertained now a days! If my boy was bored I noticed I wasn’t intentional of getting his energy out in the morning! Once you gets a routine going takes about 2 weeks he’ll get used to your outside time indoor individual play! As an only child it is harder to “entertain” then but if you start young that hard work hours through older years! Consistency and don’t give in! Promise it will get easy!

Speaking as someone who works at a pet store, which currently has young baby bunnies up for adoption because the people who owned them didn't want them anymore.. please dont get bunnies with the idea that they are low maintenance, do not require the same level of attention as a cat or dog, or that they are inexpensive and easy to take care of. Just like a cat or dog, they require so much love, attention, space, toys, etc! There are so many bunnies in the shelter because people decide they dont want them after a short amount of time.
