As much as I love your Family Life videos and your “Live” videos, I also think these videos, like this Scooter Attachment one and the Volt Hockey one, are wonderful because they show ways in which you can participate in activities on a level playing field with your family. And that in my book is Awesome!!

I use to have this CNEBIKES device. To prevent the mounting angle problem shown at 10:50, you need to tighten the two silver bolts on either side very tight. This will ensure that when the tire hits an obstacle or bump at an angle, the down tube /main tube of the device does not rotate with regard to the mounted part of the device. Another thing that I found makes it easier to attach is to tighten the two attachments wings to the same angle every time, never let them hang down. So each time I went to attach the device, the wings were already at the perfect angle to fit around my chair.

Thanks for the review. I’ve been using a Rio Mobility Firefly for 5+ years and love it. There are cons like having permanent brackets but overall it’s been very dependable. I also have access to great customer support which I’ve used with success. It’s time to get a new attachment and your model is appealing because of the price. I do worry about the lack of customer support and the twisting frame you encounter. Because these are pretty quick, safety is now more of an issue. Regardless, I really, really appreciate the unbiased and honest review. These attachments have changed my life and I couldn’t imagine not using one moving forward. A Baetec would be sweet but the price is insane. Essentially a new car. I’ve tried the newest Firefly model and it’s upgraded dual disc brakes, very solid frame attachment and powerful headlights make it appealing. It is now $5000 Canadian so the $2000 price increase sucks. As I’ve been using these for years, I will suggest that you keep your brakes constantly serviced as I had a bad accident when my brake locked up when I was going 23 km/hr. I went over the handlebars and luckily only suffered some scrapes and bruises. This was due to me not changing the disc brake pads early enough and keeping them serviced. A huge lesson that has kept me safer while riding. I’ll be honest and say that the twisted frame you’re encountering while riding really worries me as it weakens the aluminum’s strength every time this happens. This could result in the brackets or the frame snapping and of course I’d hate for this to happen to you. Id go to a reputable bike shop and see what they say as this is where I get my Firefly serviced. Due to the number of electric bikes they fix, most shops are familiar with wheelchair attachments like ours and have been a huge help. Please look into this as I fear for your safety. I won’t be buying this model because of this issue. Thanks again and play safe! Brian

I have a very similar wheelchair attachment called a E-pilot by Alber, but it was slightly more expensive than yours, $18,000 Australian $, but thankfully it was paid for by our NDIS, I use mine everyday and everywhere around town, to be honest I hardly drive since I got it 😊, mine attaches the same as the batech

I think I said before I have a batec as got it 2nd hand from a friend and use it with my old wheelchair so I don't damage my new chair as it was a major investment. I have a question thought do u use a bike helmet when are using ur scooter attachment? as I sometime do as have been known to crash mine a few times and don't wanna break myself anymore than I am already lol. hope u and ur family are enjoying the summer.

A year and some change later I was wondering if you had some time to answer a few pertinent questions since I've been doing some research into getting one of these scooter attachments for my chair but the prices of all the more "high-end" models are just unsustainable and frankly insulting to people with disabilities... - Do you still enjoy this product and would you recommend? - Have you pushed it to its limits; what would you say is its biggest weakness? (I dont plan on going out in the woods or mountains, mostly small city but slopes or inclines?) - Did yours come with the battery shipped later or did you have to buy the battery along with the attachment? (I am seeing a lot of reviews about the battery not being included) - When not throttling, if your in an incline, does the chair stay still or do you need to engage the breaks? Thank you in advance and I would like to say that Ive went through some of your other videos and you are truly inspiring, keep it up, you genuinely are empowering people

I have that same type saved for later on my Amazon list. Might as well wait until next summer to pick one up now since this summer is unfortunately wrapping up soon. Can't wait to try it though.

Hi I have been using one of these for over 6 years now. FYI its a lot quicker to get on and off if you retighten the center lock key before undoing the clamps when you remove. This way the arms always remain upright and ready in the correct position. Just remember to always tighten before undoing the clamps ;)

There’s a guy I see every morning when I go to Tim Horton’s whom has I think the same attachment as yours. I haven’t seen it up real close because I already embarrassed myself when I yelled out “That’s just like Brittney’s one!”. Apparently not everyone - yet - knows who you are lol! Have you ever tried the RGK SmartDrive Power Assist Drivec? I saw a video one time on this type, and it looks pretty slick, looks like it has good traction, although I can see the big disadvantage because I don’t think you could attach it and detach it by yourself.

Hi, I have a Firefly 2.5 from Rio Mobility, once you get it set up it's a game changer, you would love it! It's easy to take on and off, very stable, and from what I'm seeing its the best attachment on the market, it is $2,800, but well worth it.
@westiepower20205 ай бұрын
I wanted to comment that I am seeing a lot more of these “scooter attachments” being used in everyday life - on the street, in malls, in stores - than ever before. Not just for recreational uses. More often than the “SmartDrive” rear attachment. Maybe because of price Brittney? Or, Britt, is it easier for more chair-users to attach the scooter attachment than the SmartDrive?

Hi, have you tried to attach it to a more foldable wheelchair? My wife is in a wheelchair, but not a fixed frame one with footrests on the frame. Her footrests attach to the wheelchair and come out forward. I wonder if that kind of attachment would work on these type of wheelchair. If you are not sure what type I'm referring to you can search Helio C2 from Motion composites. We have a 3 yrs old daughter and I've been looking into getting something similar as the price with is a huge factor, considering how much something similar cost if you go with a adaptive equipment seller. Nothing is under 10k-15k$ CAD.

Looks good to me but.. it almost weights the same as me, and without customer service... if something goes really wrong and can't be repaired or replaced with something else or somewhere else... that would be 1500€ of dead weight to get rid off; anyway, if it's easy to install, reliable and works to allow you to do activities with your kids and family.. i think it worths it.

I guess that depends on how fit you are. It takes work to push a manual chair so if you're relatively fit then that should work. If not then a ln electric wheelchair is probably your best bet.
