Although I'm not familiar with every EV product line, these I ether own or have used. With my sound objectives in mind, this is how I use them

Spot on Brian. I've used them with the exception of the 30's but I've heard them and I'm impressed. As far as the 50's Jimmy and I did a 200+ wedding and were given the highest compliment, "it sounds great but can you turn it down a little please" lol

When you talk about using them for the specific amount of people per set up are you using multiple or just a single application?

Hello Brian, I’m curious on your setting for the Evolve 50’s. I find it very hard to use these for anything over 150 people. I’ve been using them for a couple years now and I just don’t feel comfortable for larger crowds. If I push it too much, they seem to start clipping. What settings do you run them at for 250+ people? Thanks Adam

I've never used EV Speakers myself. I'm running HK's; a pair of PR:O 12's, with a pair of PR:O 18S Subs (I'm a passive speakers guy) and love them. I started out with Studiomaster; not the greatest speakers by a long way, but they did the job when I was on a shoestring budget.

I’d like to hear where you think the elx-200 line falls in comparison. I’m currently running 2 12” tops and 2 18” subs from that line with zlx 12” for stage monitors.

I've heard that the EV ETX series tops and subs tend to limit out very easily. Compared to other speakers in it's class like the qsc k12.2. Has anyone had any issues with that?

Great video, quick and concise. I have a question for you since you've obviously used these speakers a bit.. I'm looking to run a guitar through a amp modeler/processor into a speaker so I can completely bypass the preamp section of a typical guitar amp. I would be able to adjust the eq through the processor. Do you think an EV would work well l for this application?

Why the Evolve ones?.. What is the advantage of these columns evolve 30 & 50 ?..
@stanbailly78563 жыл бұрын
Love the sound of my etx15p and get lots of comments. But need to dial down the highs about 8 db and the mids around 3 db for a flat sound. Used a analyzer to figure that out. However they clip too early for my liking and have heard others say that as well. The bottom end will just shut off til you turn down the volume. So for bigger events really do need subwoofers so you can cross over the tops.
@briansredd3 жыл бұрын
On subs, for pre-recorded music & compressed audio, I turn the subs down. Maybe -3db or so. Seems to even stuff out

I have or rather had 2 x EKX18" subs. I was disappointed in the output of the sub's, especially when using only a single with 2 x 12" tops for smaller shows. Found the subs to be very directional over my older JBL JRX18" passive subs in larger rooms and topped out easier on the limiter when pushed (side by side comparisons) . I have since sold one sub off and using the single remainder as a low fill on corporate events. Good video though.

👍😃👍 i dont own evols but i belive you are just right. I use ETX 10s for small gigs if they want to sep up the sound i throw 2 15s dobles subs with a crown 2k. for my big events i use mi triamp system 4 jbl vrxs 2 yorkville ls1208 with crown IT6000 MIT9000 and lab gruppen 400...

Great budget beginner speakers, I wish I would have started with ZLX 15s though. The 12s are great !
@johnmcquay823 жыл бұрын
@@Mojo7444 I've found with some 15" speakers, they struggle in the vocal ranges. The HF driver can't quite reach low enough, the LF driver can't quite reach high enough leaving a bit of a "hole" in the middle. I have a pair of dBt Opera 405s that suffer with that problem. It's only really a problem when driving high SPLs though. If you still have your 12s, and you want a bit more bass, add a sub or two (funds permitting) and roll the bass off, passing the low end to the subs. I think you might prefer that approach than to part with your 12s. :)

2:49 after watching the in depth video of that event I wouldn’t consider that as “pushing very hard” as you barely went above 0 dB and you didn’t clip anything :)
