They were explaining why people used to put their hand behind the product. It was because a lot of beauty bloggers didn't have anyone actually behind the camera. They had cameras that "auto-focus." Sometimes the cameras would have problems shifting focus from the face (far away) to the small product (up close) and everything would just get blurry. Putting your hand - or, arm if you wanted lol - makes everything "close" for the camera. The camera then knows to ignore background/hand and focus in on the thing in the middle, product. And, Shay was like, "Oh, so I don't have to do that anymore. I want to anyway." Adorable.

The difference between how she did her base and how beauty bloggers do it is her layers. She's doing it the way she was taught by professionals. When you do light layers the way she did it, it looks more natural yet with coverage. When we see the typical beauty blogger doing it, they use way more product which is why we can see the texture of their faces. I agree she's already flawless but I appreciate how she did her make up to be able to see what she learned from make up artists.
