You are wrong.. CSE might have the highest salary, but its not because of quality of the teachers or students, rather its how the job market is.. Computer science jobs pay really well in India right from day one.. CSE department of TKM is the worst department in terms of teachers. Then its chemical, then EC.. TKM Mechanical, Civil and architecture actually have very talented teachers. Just look at their profiles on the website. They are all involved in consultancy works, big funded projects etc. but salary is low for mech and civil because the job market is like that.

Placement for CSE is ok at TKM, not as good as CET of course, but still it is ok. It is comparable to that of colleges like SCT, Barton Hill etc. However, CSE department itself is not that good, the teachers are terrible people in my experience. This boy is in Mechanical, Mechanical is a lot more chill than other departments because most teachers are males and especially because most of those teachers were students of TKM itself, so they are usually talented. They would have a love for the college and they undertake research and all. That is not the case in CSE department. Most teachers are mostly in "vann chori mood", they don't really like students either. The current HoD is Aneesh Sir, I don't personally like him or his styleof teaching. Most of the teachers don't have any knowledge about programming or about the foundations of computer science. I once asked one teacher why we learn about Von Neumann's concept in college. She actually didn't know the answer and she said some random things from here and there and finally asked me to stop asking silly questions. Nobody is knowledgeable at all. They simply say "Machine Learning","data science","IoT","Network security" etc. all big terms here and there, but their knowledge is very limited and very poor. That said, the students are really smart and the seniors and all help you a lot. Don't look at the top salary packages, because only one or two students get that kind of pay, look at the average and the pay package offered to most students. If you do join TKM, then make sure you join the different organizations in college like IEEE and all, so that you get more exposure to things. There are many such organisations in college. Also, make sure you read standard textbooks if you want placements or you want to appear for GATE or such examinations. The marks you score for KTU exams mean nothing at all. Of course, you have to try to score CGPA 9 so that you don't fall short academically compared to other students, but for placement interviews and all nobody cares about your marks, you just need more marks than the cut off marks to attend the placement tests. In my opinion, TKM is an OK college and it is better compared to many other colleges, but DON'T rely on teachers for anything. Use the facilities in college well and you will get a good job for sure. Just go to the TKM college website and check out the profile of the teachers and the placements. The website also enlists the various facilities in the campus.
