It’s a matter of perspective. I moved to Baltimore seven years ago and I really like it. Boring! Not from my experience. Did you live in a distressed area? Baltimore is like most cities. There’s good and bad as a whole. I like the proximity to DC and New York. Baltimore has excellent restaurants, museums etc….Unfortunately, if you’re poor don’t come here because, life will be hard. If you have money, the possibilities are limitless on what you’re exposed to.

I have lived in Baltimore all my life and I gotta say you are speaking facts. It's unfortunate because it hasn't always been like this. In the 80s they revamped the harbor, spent millions and it became a huge tourist spot. Now, I won't even go down the harbor they trashed it and the crime is out of control. My advice....VOTE BETTER! The Mayor, governor etc are all a bunch of idiots. Oh and let's not forget about those police... go watch "We own this city" it's a disgrace what those few police did.

Baltimore got good neighborhoods mixed in with the tough neighborhoods. Imo its a lot of discrimination against black people when it comes to housing. You really got to know a Baltimorean that can show you around and not a realtor. Im not sure where you lived at but judging by your video you could afford to live in a more welcoming neighborhood where you could enjoy yourself. The foreign college students get more access to safe affordable housing than average baltimoreans.

I'm a "Buckeye," born and raised in Cincinnati. I was a WAC and Uncle Sam dropped me into Fort Meade (south of Baltimore,) in 1976. I grew roots, married a man from the Baltimore area, raised two sons in Maryland - and I've wanted out of this town/area for a very long time. When I was married, I lived in nicer areas in Anne Arundel County. Now divorced, I've lived in a pretty quiet SW Baltimore City neighborhood for 23 years. (Almost all of my immediate neighbors are wonderful people.) I'm really only two blocks from the Baltimore County line, and yet five people have been shot and killed in my neighborhood (that I know of!) since I've lived here. @theroseroom980 mentioned that she lived in a pretty nice area but there was "a hood up the street." That's the thing - No matter where you live in this city or even the surrounding counties, very likely there will be "a hood up the street." Also, Baltimore has its own "vibe" that many native Baltimoreans adore. Even after decades, I just don't get it. I've never, ever seen the "charm" of Charm City. I don't like the kitschy, "Hon" culture, and I even hate Old Bay! The few places I used to enjoy going, like Harbor Place, Fells Point and Federal Hill, have become magnets for brawling, muggings and shootings. Since I retired, I've never gone into the city and I never will. I'm glad you found a haven in my home state. I miss Ohio very, very much. It's a completely different feeling there. (For many years I had a dream of moving back home, but recent events in my family kind of shut that down... 🙁)
